What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Recently happened upon this absolutely perfect city combo... :)

The little Classic does pretty much everything I might need on any given day, 'cept food prep like apples, sandwiches, steaks etc. consumed away from home, and it is a wonderful reminder to pray.

The Shuffler excels at all those tasks and would look like this...

...if lionSTEEL used glue instead of screws. 🤔 The screws are OK with me because it has so many other great cutlery attributes. It is also OK since there is no perfect knife, just perfect combos. ;);):)

There’s some truth in that, I also pick combos that compliment rather than duplicate. So I wouldn’t carry two TL-29s, or two Trappers, etc. at the same time.

I’ve been using a free app to downsize my photos, and being a cheapskate freeloader, I get occasional pop-up ads. Yesterday, I saw one called Remove Any Object. Did you use something like that to remove the screws from that photo?

Editing is getting so devious that I wonder how one can believe any photographed evidence anymore.

“Yer Honor, I don’t care what that picture shows. That wasn’t me!”

Screws were used by a few back in pre-WW2 days instead of glue and/or pins.
Hence screws were ruled "traditional" a while back.

I agree though that pinned and/or glued covers look more ... "old timey" ...
Perhaps slotted screws rather than TORX or Allenhead would look "better" and more "old timey"?

The Barlow was probably my first knife close to 70 years ago, and I've acquired "a few" since then. I love my old Barlows. I'm probably in the minority here, but I think the Lionsteel Barlows are one of the best ideas that have come along in a long time, and I kinda like them the way they are. There's a CK YouTube video out there showing how you can take the bolsters off & adjust the pivot. You can't easily do that with the Barlows that I grew up with.

Anywho..... I hope I didn't ruffle any feathers with my unsolicited opinion, and here's what I'm carrying today.

I love how veg-tan leather patinas.

Man…I love seeing this viper in the mix in a regular basis. Such a great knife that will patina with you. Love the slip as well 👍🏼.

Seeing your 112 on a regular basis has made me meander onto the Buck forum for sight seeing purposes. I find myself saying “why don’t I have a 112 in my life? 😂. The sickness never ends!

You do have a special one there. The wood is fantastic 👌🏼.

For pocket carry, I will stick with the Robeson 622110 and 33 Camillus EO Jack.

Outside pocket I'm returning to the SAK HUNTSMAN and adding the Hercules.
A Buck 110 remains outside the pocket. Switching for a few days to the "Oak", Brass, and 5160 C&C SFO 110 though.

I've had a 110 for over 50 years and picked up a couple more 110s along the way. I didn't get my first 112 just a few months ago, but it quickly became a favorite. I like to carry a larger blade for most of the cutting chores, along with something like a medium stockman, SAK, etc. I used to carry a modern folder as the larger knife, but the 112 seems just about right, and doesn't take up any pocket space.

Your 112 is aging nicely.👍

Combos rule! I used a photo editing app that came with my laptop. The capabilities of AI enhanced photography makes every photo suspect. Use to be, "Don't believe everything you hear and only half of what you see." Now... ??? Good luck!!!

I really have no problem with screws. Don't want them on everything, but every knife in my collection does not have to appear "old-timey" either. If someone else's does, that's OK too.

A Barlow was my first knife purchase a long time ago. I was thrilled when CK introduced a modern version and own a few. I count them among my most favored knives, liking them just the way they are. But I was curious about their appearance and showed the pic of a screwless model only because I have it. There are advantages and disadvantages to both type of fasteners. I own both. :)

Still resting up from my fall so the furthest I'm going today is up to the mailboxes for mail. I'm stepping up from carrying a 055 Buck to a 501 Buck Squire. Breakfast is a toss up.

Feel better soon, Ed! Can't keep a navy guy down for long. :)
Two wonder Bucks, tough to choose between them.
