Brilliant ride on my motorbike today, best ride this year by a mile.

It was sunny and I saw a lot of interesting things like.

Small full English breakfast, delicious along with a big mug of tea.

Old and new bikes.

Small village no pub, shop or post office yet the streets full of people visiting the open gardens of the locals.

Cream tea at the village hall.

Bees crawling in flowers to pollinate.

Quiet old scenic English country lanes.

Old armour of the sort I used to work on.

Guarded by scary barking Rottweilers.

Other trhings ive forgotten about.

Good to be alive today.

One village had a sign by its name that will become a new motto of mine "Slow down, see more" so true.

Great photos John. As a medic, I was attached to a tank unit for a short time.👌

A Camillus "Rough Cut" Stockman.
Said to have been about the last product made just before Camillus shut down in 2007, the two that I owned were a bit on the rough side as far as the springs being flat. (I still have this one.)
Blade steel unknown, but is not stainless. Covers not known, but are plastic, have not shrunk, and appear to be Delrin. And you just have to love thatgorgeous clip blade. Camillus made the most gorgeous clip blades. They just got that shape perfect.

They did the same on the final iteration of TL-29s, too. At the same time that they moved the shackle pin to the very end of the knife, they eliminated the leveling, grinding, and polishing of the backs of the springs.
Since they cranked out so many of them near the end, they’re quite common. The few of those I have modded or re-handled, I have polished out the uneven backs on the belt sander. You could go ahead and do that if you want. Doesn’t hurt anything, and then you can use it for a guitar slide too.😁

But you’re right about their clip blades!
A repeat of the photo of the Camillus and Voos from Friday. I’ve been working on cleaning the blades up when I get a chance. They’re getting there, but I also don’t think ~80 year old knives should be bright and shiny.

The more I work on the Voos blade, the more its mistreatment becomes evident. It’s been (badly) reprofiled (I think?) and it looks like someone took a Dremel or rough grit sandpaper perpendicular to the spine. Oh well, part of the ‘story’ this knife tells!!

That’s a shame.
I have taken the trouble to polish those grinder marks out before, but it’s tedious and extremely time consuming.

I wouldn’t worry about it, just use them, because they’re gorgeous anyway.
