Jeff, I have to ask... have you tried using a slip with your overalls? In general? Now that I think about it, I don't recall seeing many (or any) slips in your photos. I use a slip everytime I carry a knife. I'm not that concerned about protecting my knives, but I've found that a slip keeps a knife straight up and down, and centered, in my pocket. Also, there's virtually zero chance of them slipping out (no pun intended). Might be worth a shot!

I have some slips, but mostly only use them as protection for really old bone. Otherwise, they slow me down.

I have some slips, but mostly only use them as protection for really old bone. Otherwise, they slow me down.

I like how pocket slips look, but I have only one knife that I put in a slip these days (and I will almost always use whatever other knife I'm carrying when I have that one with me).

It just makes using the knife awkward: pull the slip out of pocket; pull the knife out of slip; return slip to pocket; now you're finally ready to use the knife.
