What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Taking Cindy to town for her haircut at the hair dresser. Sausage and eggs for breakfast. The snow bunnies are coming late tonight - a lot of them!!! To ease my anxiety, I'll be totin a repro Remington Baby Trapper. The jigging on this knife is killer. Who knows? I might have to skin a snow bunny.

You’re not wrong about the jigging!! Beautiful.

A little snow this morning. We may get some flurries, but I think its mostly done. The temp is 28F and its supposed to drop throughout the day eventually getting down to 11 tonight 🥶

That is just a little less than what we have on the ground this afternoon ......... but, we got a solid five inches yesterday. Then the temp came up and it started melting quite a bit.
Bunny is always a fine choice ! 😊

I know these are probably color and monochrome pics of the same pair of knives, but the first time I saw it, I was reminded of the old Sunday School song with the lines
Red and yellow, black and white,
They are precious in his sight.
Jesus loves the little children of the world.

(Sorry if that's too DEI for current times. ;) )

Isn't that an old joke? How many public utility trucks does it take to change a light pole? 😁

Superb pair! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Somewhere, some time ago, I threatened to dye this thing purple. I thought I was kidding but it turned out I weren't. My first dye job! I had many fears, but none which came to pass. I'm a happier camperer! 🏕️

Today makes for a very special Friday Favorites. Today after 47 years, 7 months and 25 days on the same job I was told my services were no longer needed as part of a worldwide reduction in force and I’m officially unemployed for the first time since I was 15. And I couldn’t be happier. I was scheduled to retire in June and now I’m getting paid to retire 5 months early. It’s just now starting to sink in. I received a very satisfactory severance package as a parting gift. I was treated with the utmost dignity and respect which was greatly appreciated. Now I’m sitting around in my flannel PJs and ratty hoodie enjoying a nice Assam tea and reading a good book. People are always asking me what I plan to do when I retire. I’m not one that has an issue staying busy. Here’s a short list:
  • Cook more often
  • Scan old photos
  • Start working on the Payne family genealogy
  • Spend more time with my babies
  • Help Mom with her garden
  • Volunteer at Pedal It Forward
  • Ride more
  • See things I hadn’t seen before more often
  • Finish my project bike and sell it and the last project that’s still hanging up in the basement
  • Sell a bunch of knives that I don’t like or carry
  • Worry less
  • Care more

Far from the most expensive knives in the collection but certainly the most valuable. Found out today that I'm going to have to buy another engraved knife for a little granddaughter due late July. Odds are she'll have blue eyes too so another blue knife will be in order.

Double belated congrats on a couple of major milestones in your life!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
I moved to full-time retirement about 16 months ago, and am still adjusting to it.

I carried Charlie’s latest lamb on this rainy day today.

Jeff, who are some famous "pros" who have favored a Telecaster?

A Sunny Sunday in England, what else could/would I carry but my CJ Barlow.

Thanks for the photos of a sunny, snowless day, John! Your CJ lambsfoot Barlow is sublime!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

What you do is run the shower without stripping down and getting in. The AI spying algorythm in your phone will notify the med office that you're in the shower so they know to call you right away.
If Opinels were made in Mayberry North Carolina, they would be called Opienels. If they were made in Greece, they would be Oopahnels.
😁 Jeff, I think you have too much time on your hands during the winter!

Nice knife, Lance! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:
Burlap micarta (or tater skin or whatever RR calls it)?

You need that new underboob, buttcrack, thighcrease, stinkyfeet total body deodorant. As seen on tv.
I've seen that on TV a lot lately and felt old-fashioned because I didn't smell the need for total de-scenting. I wonder if it can be used as mouthwash and/or toothpaste, too?
