What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

^ That looks very interesting Brian, can you tell us more please? :)

Hi Jack

It seems to be a spanish equivalent to the Opinel. This one is a No6.with a 7cm Carbon steel blade and no locking ring. The closed length is 9.5 cm. and the bolsters are aluminium. Not sure how this will hold up to heavy use but it certainly takes a good edge. a sheeps foot was made available after I bought this and larger and smaller blades are also available. The larger blades also seem to have a Wharncliffe version At the time I bought this the only choice was the spear point. I think the larger sizes have a locking ring. I nave no idea what the grade of steel is. Just seemed like a reasonable alternative to Opinel....which I already have.

Did some yard work with this one this morning before it go too hot. Gotta see if it'll stay along for the rest of the day.

I’m going to be making a very early start tomorrow as I’m going over to Sheffield to meet Duncan and his good lady, and to give them the Grand Tour! I’ll be carrying this lovely Ron Smith Barlow, which I was very generously gifted by Seth a month or so ago, as Duncan asked if he could see it.

I’ll also be carrying this custom sgian dubh made for me 20 years ago by the Sheffield cutler who also made my U1 knife, and who has now sadly passed away. It’s made from vacuum-hardened and cryogenically treated Sheffield-made SF-77 steel, and has a bit of a story to it. It’s a gift for Duncan.
