The Floral knife.

Got this Canoe 2 days ago for a insanely low price . I was drawn to it because I have never had a Canoe pattern before and it was some good looking Stag .
Made in 1977 by Kissing Crane and it is #4942 out of 5000 made . It appears to me that it was maybe never used . Still has sharp edges on all 3 Blade Spines . Was kind of sticky when I got it but oiling and compressed air fixed that . This knife Is Not a comfortable knife to use because of the unopened blades . I will carry it some but most likely will always have another knife in my pocket to use . The knife does however add to my meager collection of Different Patterns and Stag . Just another knife for my heirs to figure out what the heck to do with .

Harry
Your gunboat canoe is a winner, Harry! (Maybe you should give your heirs my name in case I'm still around when they're trying to figure out what to do with it. 🤓) But your gunboat isn't really representative of the "usual" canoe pattern; you still ought to give yourself a chance to try out the 3 5/8" closed, clip/pen 2-blade version of the canoe pattern.

Good-looking half congress, Bob; I like the coloring of the handle!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
When we vacation on the shore of Lake Huron in August, I enjoy watching ospreys doing high altitude fishing along the shore.

Jeff, the colors of your knife handles remind me that the Detroit Tigers are off to slow start for the current MLB season. Your knives are winners though!:cool::thumbsup:

Steve, I always admire the Daily Duos you post, especially the ones with golden brown bone handles. This pair doesn't fit that description, but they're still a notable pair; I especially like that cattle knife!:cool::thumbsup:

Magnificent micarta, David! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Carried the Queen 4L and GEC 29 Friday through Sunday.
Switched over to the Case and Buck creek today.

Someone help decide which one goes in my pocket for April.

View attachment 2835699
Ok, remember you asked...
Just send me the River Town, then you needn't worry about it. I'll PM you my address ;)
So, of the remaining two...the Yankee Barlow is particularly striking 🤩
🤔
After careful consideration, you should just send me that one too :D
So that leaves the middle one. Carry that one
I was going to suggest the same one (middle knife) as Mike, but for more boring reasons. I'd just say go with the 2-blade knife with endcap. ;)

I lied, I have three knives today! 🤣

Triple play for the win, Patrick!:thumbsup::cool:

This morning I pulled out my big ol' Queen stockman that's just about the same age as I am. Lovin' the real winterbottom bone!

tXvBOEX.jpeg
Jeff, that knife looks great for its age, and I'm sure the same is true for you! 🤓:thumbsup:

To be honest with you, I can’t come up a single reason not to like that knife. The fit and finish are fantastic! It feels good in hand, and has all smooth transitions. The blades are very snappy, and solid. It’s not just a nice knife for the price, it’s a nice knife period! Lance
That's a very handsome RR stockman, Lance!:cool::thumbsup:
Sowbelly version? The checkered bone covers are splendid!
Your opinion on the knife is how I assess most of the many RRs I have.🤓

Well, it's Tuesday and Twoblades :) None of that Aprilfooling here 🤣

Will, your Böker copperhead is certainly not a joke; very appealing knife!:cool::thumbsup:

I'm not familiar with that Spanish knife pattern, José, but I like it!:cool::cool:

Bob, some knives are historic, but that beauty is wonderfully PREhistoric!!:thumbsup::cool:

Thank you anyway, mi amigo.

So I took your hint and looked on the internet.
This was very informative ~

And this ~

The shield on mine, with the W K (Waffenkontrole) was an acceptance stamp, and came in three orientations.
Thanks for the links, Jeff!:thumbsup::cool: I'm sure I've run across the first one before (hard to forget "Part 5 of a 2-part series"), but I had lost the link to it. I find this tang stamp guide from SAKwiki to be helpful for trying to estimate date of production for 91mm SAKs:

A stormy day here in the City by the Bay! Off and on showers are in the forecast for today. Staying home with my best buddy Lou and keeping warm and dry. Hanging out with us a couple of blue beauties. Have a great day folks! 😀View attachment 2836467View attachment 2836468
Nice knives, Dan!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Wasn't there an old song about you and Lou and knives of blue?? I found it, but I didn't have the title quite right:

53F, mostly sunny and breezy here in mid-MO. Strong thunderstorms predicted for tomorrow and then rain for the next three days. Going to have to mow the lawn after the rain

Doing a little touch up on the 65 this morning.
Mike, do you have lawn mower races at the county fair? Looks like you're pretty serious about it! 😁
How do you like that Work Sharp Field Sharpener (or whatever it's called)?

That's a cool variation, Lance; do they call it a "gunstockman" pattern, or what?:cool::thumbsup:

Giving the Mercator a break. Classic ebony canoe up for now.

Very distinguished canoe; ebony always adds some class!:cool::cool:

Slim in the pocket.

Ever since I gave the Douk-Douk to a friend I've gone back to the Mercator. Good carbon steel, shiny copper.
That copper version looks great!:thumbsup::cool:
I recently picked up a copper-handled Böker Plus Atlas (but it's a stainless slip joint) that I like very much.

Triumphant Trio, Dave! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Cool barlow. The swedge on that blade is 🤩. Here’s my Blade Show Texas purchase Case XX Barlow taking on patina nicely. View attachment 2837182
How do you get patina on the tangs? Most of my carbon steel blades have decent patina, except the tangs stay fairly shiny. Maybe I'm not a messy enough cutter? :rolleyes:o_O;)

Thanks Gary, I'll see if I can come up with a pair of goldies for tomorrow !

All I had to do today was see my loon-wrangler and eat for free at church. Praise Team and Tai Chi both called off for weather.
I won't have to go through the drudgery of eating dinner, either. There was meatloaf, ham, pork, and chicken at church, and a very good potato dish, and vegetables enough to fulfill that duty, and cheesecake. And chocolate. And little whathamacallums; stacked cookies with layers of creme.
Not very Lenten of us.

My brother is fortunate to have 3 active nests on the creek his yard backs up to. They do not seem to be very territorial. They are amazing fisherman/ladies.

My fossil is a delight to slice with. It is one of Lloyd's earlier works.

I haven't seen any mower races locally., but I have seen lawn tractor pulls which are fun :) That's not me btw ;)

I like the sharpener. I have stones and a DMT sharpener with different diamond stones, but 99% of the time I grab this Work Sharp or my stop block (chunk of wood with suede on one side and smooth leather on the other) to touch up an edge.

Another beautiful day here in the City by the Bay! Thought I’d change it up today. New Yankee Barlow and the Jack Ruby Special. Have a great day folks! 😀View attachment 2837287View attachment 2837288
Don't let yer boogerpicker slip off that bobbed hammer.
Somebody at Case: "Put Whaler on the blade so some nimrod on Blade Forums doesn't call it a Loom Fixer."

Cool knife by any name, Bob.
Thanks, I bought it many years ago at the San Francisco Gun Exchange and noticed the front sight blade was bent to one side. When I asked about it they told me to take it out and shoot it because he believed that the original owner did that so it would shoot straight and he was right! Not that I can hit anything past seven yards accurately with that short barrel.
Timing a barrel to 12:00 TDC be hard, ya know...
More than you probably want to know:

The whole concept of a 150 mph mower is absurd 🤪

It looks like a blast! Sign me up 😃
My late son had a Buell. I said "let me try it".
Clicked it into 1st, gave the throttle a little twist, and let the clutch out.
I was 60 feet sideways into the front yard headed for a walnut tree before I got control.
So no thanks, Honda.

Generally like to have a stainless knife & a carbon one about me. Single-blade and 2-3 blade pattern.

I may as well throw it away then. Bought the wrong knife.😃
I've always liked the "raw" finish as seen on your fixed blade. I have seen it called many names Jeff. How is yours labeled?

Since I do not know much about Canoe Knives : Is being over 4" in length make it a Gunboat ???? Or what does ????
I appreciate your offer but , I like to mess with my kids . I will probably let them try to figure out what to do with it . All 4 of them are in fact pretty smart . They will only have a few to keep or dispose of .
