What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thanks for the detailed feedback!:thumbsup::cool:
I'm not a rabid fan of Barlows, either, and I think it's partly because most of the vintage ones I've seen are about 3 3/8" closed (except the Grandaddy ones), and my preference is for knives 3.5" or more.

Glad the recovery is going well, Jeff!:thumbsup::cool:
Probably would have recovered faster 30 years ago, but you didn't need the surgery then. ;)

Thanks. :)

Wow! She has great taste IMHO, since the x347 is my favorite Case stockman (except for sowbelly), and I got myself a 6347 with those quad-lined bolsters for my 70th birthday a few years ago.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

In my experience, it's hard to commit permanently to any single pattern. Although I have more canoes and sowbelly stockmans than any other pattern, but I'm always very fond of almost any knife I happen to be using.

Heavenly Horn (and nice shots of Buffalo Bob)!:cool::thumbsup:

Terrific toothpick, Zach! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Love the shirt, John, but what have you done with your hair??😁

Thanks for the batter's eye info, Bart!:cool::cool:
Watership Down was published in the early 1970's, I think; leave it to a geezer to recommend a 50-year-old novel. I think it was marketed as a children's or young adult book, but I enjoyed it when I read it in the early 90s as a 40-something guy.

Speaking of 40-something, today was our 40th wedding anniversary, and neither my wife nor I remembered until the middle of the afternoon when our daughter sent a congratulatory email. o_O:rolleyes: (When I got up this morning, I noticed it was June 1, and had a feeling that the date was important, but it's too early for Father's Day (6/15) or a sister's birthday (6/14) or a brother's birthday (6/24).)

I thought I would grow it out a bit,its been military grade short all my life. 😁

Notable pair of knives, Jeff, and a wondrous Wenger watch!:cool::thumbsup:
How many watchbands have you gone through in 30 years?
I laughed about your looking at your wrist. "Don't it always seem to go that we don't know what we've got till it's gone?"
When I was teaching, there was a clock on the wall in the classroom, and I thought I rarely looked at it. But on the few occasions that the clocks all across campus quit working or had incorrect time, I realized that I apparently glance at the clock at least a dozen times in a 50-minute period.

I used to go through watchbands too often until I sprung for a real nice one. The brand is Threaded. Super well made and comfortable leather.

Happy Anniversary!
I suppose the Best Half had adjusted expectations knowing that she was marrying The Absent Minded Professor! 😀
Many wives would make a guy pay for forgetting an anniversary.
Mines more like yours, luckily. We're pretty casual about "Hallmark Holidays".
"Go out for dinner for my birthday? I'm kinda tired. Let's just stay home".🤪
I too have a hard time committing to a single pattern, but judging by my pile of knives I'm pretty partial to trappers and stockmen. I agree with you that this one of hers is an exceptional example. It started out with some rough edges that I wasn't a fan of, but those have worn smooth with some pocket time.

I had a long (10 1/2 hours) day at church today, and had this S&M mini trapper in my pocket:

I happened by this picture of it from when it was still a newborn. Picked it up from the Queen open house that they used to run at the same time as the GEC rendezvous. She is showing some signs of use, as there have been years where this knife was in my pocket every day. I'm more fond of her today than I was in 2016.

10 1/2 hours. I sure hope there was some good music mixed in there!😎

I've been the guitarist for a few of those day long conferences, and found it a nice change from having to squeeze my music into a tight time table.

SAK of the Week is my only knife from Wenger, an Esquire:

Stockman of the Week is a Case 6347 with stainless blades, walnut Rogers jigged bone covers, and quad-lined bolsters. IIRC, it was a 70th birthday gift to myself back in 2021 (even though the box claims the knife was made in 2016 and the tang stamp indicates a 2015 date; I guess it qualified as NOS when I bought it):

No fog today here in the City by the Bay! Well at least not yet 🤞. Going to see my surgeon for my post-op meeting in a couple of hours. She saved my life and then changed my life and for that I will always be in her debt. Tote’n these smooth white bone beauties with me. Have a great week folks! 😀

As I recall, that's got everything you like in a Stockman.
I carry a Wenger Esquire when I have pants on.

Now let's see.
70 take away 2025 is minus 1955. Plus it by 2021 makes 66. Bout right?🤪

I've been the guitarist for a few of those day long conferences, and found it a nice change from having to squeeze my music into a tight time table.

It was a long combination of service followed by a mission trip meeting, I'm leading a trip to Cameroon in August, followed by a potluck, and then a corporate prayer meeting. I love an all day church session, but it does take it out of me.

On account of needing a down day, I'm tooling around the house again, this time with my English Jack. I don't often dive into the GECmania these days, just too frantic for my liking. However, a couple of years ago the wife and I took a trip out east for our anniversary and happened by Titusville. They had just finished the run of 87s, and we liked that this one was very orange looking. This is another one that spent over a year being in my pocket every day, and is still one of my favorites because it reminds me of our trip.
