You were right! I'll have to try that.Told ya!!! Sprinkle a little salt on em.
They were great.Oh man, those look so incredibly good right now!
On another note: if you ever have the chance to roast Chestnuts on an open fire this Christmas season, do it. You will not regret it!
First the top link off a 3-pt hitch and now Coleman lantern mantles. Showing some cool stuff. I thought the lantern mantles were banned due to the radiation source these were. We used these as a radiation source in some equipment a few decades ago.
I’m not sure about the mantles. I just bought this lantern on eBay advertised as new old stock. I planned on using new mantles and just tucking these away. Are you saying the old mantles were banned?First the top link off a 3-pt hitch and now Coleman lantern mantles. Showing some cool stuff. The old mantels replaced, better term, due to being radioactive. The new ones use a different manufacturing process and materials. I miss old Coleman lanterns with the pump cap to pressurize the fuel.I’m not sure about the mantles. I just bought this lantern on eBay advertised as new old stock. The top link I found on my trailer after driving to work, I must have forgot I set it there.![]()
Thank you for bringing that to my attention! I’ve got some interesting reading to do now.The old mantels replaced, better term, due to being radioactive. The new ones use a different manufacturing process and materials. I miss old Coleman lanterns with the pump cap to pressurize the fuel.
Glad the top link did not fall off
Great job on that top spoon...View attachment 2988044
Even with the one eye they manage to make gorgeous knives

I agree. The light they give off seems brighter to me than a battery powered light. I have seen some older ones in really good condition in antique stores in the area. The booth owners knew what they had as the price reflected it.Thank you for bringing that to my attention! I’ve got some interesting reading to do now.
I’ve been using battery lanterns for years but I miss the old pump fuel lanterns so I went looking for a good used one. I know I had a couple years ago but somehow lost track of them. They’re a great window to the past.
I recall those western figurines. Somewhere there was a couple threads involving on going carvings.Great job on that top spoon.........I'm gonna have to give.carving another go
...Its just that I have the artistic ability of year old dog turds...
.....Always enjoyed seeing the little carvings that one.fella used to share pics of as he worked on em...
. Been a minute since I've seen him though
