I'm taking a tree down today. It's too big too close to my house.
I'll be using saws, ropes, and a ladder, but I might have to whittle my way out of some tight corners.

Please ... miss the house and any out buildings (garage(s), shed(s), etc..)
a bottle jack and wedges might come in handy in aiming the fall.
Will you be topping the tree so the impact zone is smaller in diameter?
For safety, I rented a bucket lift for that.
When dropping the large branches, I made a cut just under half way, about 10 inches from the trunk, then cut from the top about 14 inches from the trunk. That way the branch drops straight doen without an arch.

If necessary to avoid dropping the branches on a structure, I would run a hauser over a higher branch, tie off the branch I was removing, secure the tag end to my truck. A guide line to turn the branch while lowering is tied on and dropped to the ground, as well.
I backed the truck to lower the branch.
Them branches weighed more than me and my business partner helping.
My truck (1948 Ford C8) weighed 10,500 pounds with bed empty and 90 gallons of fuel on board, "Thanks" to the winch used to dump the bed (6" center shaft, double spool with about a mile of 7/16" wire rope, and approx. 1/4 mile of 5/8" wire rope, and the steel used to convert to a dump bed using the winch. I could also use the winch to drag trunks onto the bed of the truck) Oh yeah ... the winch was as wide as the cab.)
I found a weight ticket in the glovebox, from before the prior owner added the winch. The truck only weighed 4,750 pounds empty. daRn winch more than doubled the weight of the truck!)
