What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I’ve been carrying the Pioneer X today. I just finished working on the wench strap on the boat trailer and putting the Mul T Bars back on the boat because Mrs. Crappie wants to go on the James River next weekend to do some catfishing.

If I ever get one of my two fishing boats running, I gonna find some wenches to take for a ride. I doubt I'll have to strap them in though. They'll come willingly cuz I'm a little handsome for a guy my age. But not taking my wife and wenches at the same time.

Bad jokes aside, I want to thank you for your fishing inspirational posting. I have decided to have a low-maintenance garden this year. Partly because I'm finally going to allow the nice young Irish bone cutter to sell me a titanium knee joint, and I'm not going to be able to kneel for awhile. But mainly because I want to do a lot more fishing. I should be fishing now, because big northerns come way upstream in unbelievably small tributaries to spawn.
Let’s do this Kissing Krane for today with a big modern backup for today. View attachment 3164856
I have a cigar box of modern knives. And a Spyderco Police is in my car, but I don't carry them anymore. Not after I realized that the pocket clips had gnawed the lacquer off the bottom bout of my Telecaster.

Two Camillus knives, one made for the .gov, and another made for Sears, and a Daado.

I don't often use slips, but I'd feel bad if I broke the old Rogers bone. I mean more than I already have.
The High Carbon Cattle was cracked when I got it, and at some point, I broke off and lost that piece.

SAK of the Week is a Victorinox smooth black Alox Moneyclip (that I use as a tie clasp):

Stockman of the Week is a Rough Rider amber jigged bone sowbelly stockman. It was the first sowbelly I ever handled, and I was enamored with the pattern almost immediately. That infatuation has never faded; I have far more sowbellies than a mentally healthy man should have.

It turns out I've had this Pioneer and its smaller cousin for 20 years. Its numbered 093 of 250.

Back then I worked with horses, training them and taking them on long trips (sometimes a couple of weeks long) and as a guide in Patagonia. So they got their fare share of hard use.

The clouds are rolling in today here in the City by the Bay 🌥️. Appears to be a harbinger of the coming rain 🌧️ forecast for this afternoon and evening. We’ll just wait and see 🤷. In the meantime keeping me company with a nod to Metal Monday this trio. Have a great week folks! 😀

How do you like that Fox (Livri?)? I'm a huge fan of several Maniago makers.
I'm not Gary, but I'll give my 2 cents*
I like mine a lot. The blade looks somewhat awkward to me, but its very pointy and slicey. The model I have is linerless so its very light. F&F is excellent.

*Since we're in the process of eliminating the penny, I guess we'll have to start giving our 5 cents worth in the future. Durn inflation.

Cheers for the info. I like the blade shape but I've only seen it in photos. My experience with Fox so far has been great, I'm adding this one to my wishlist.

New to me 35 Calf Pen. Funky design but quite useful. I’ve dodged these since the release; I’m a bit confused why I like it.
Anyways, I’ll keep working on this extremely serious debate in my mind for the rest of the day. Happy Monday?

I like the Livri a lot. The high flat grind on the broad M390 blade makes it a great slicer. I like the blade shape, but can't quite figure out what to call it. I guess modified Sheepsfoot is a good guess.
Mine has SS liners and Ziricote covers. The jimping on the blade spine is a nice touch, too.
Basically, I agree with Mike..... ;)

GEC 81 moose pattern with osage handles in the pocket today. The flintknap blade is thin and sharp, made by a talented friend who resides in west central IL. I mounted it on a fork horn deer antler and keep it for display purposes only. I harvested the deer
a little over 30 years ago using an elm longbow. The memory of that hunt is still pretty vivid in my mind. :)
