Carrying a Curtin & Clark Gunstock today.

A very beautiful ole knife! I like a gunstock pattern and the old bone and blade patina on this one is really nice.:)

Stephen,

That Northwoods is a pretty Barlow style. The patina on that nice long pull blade looks great. How do you like it compared to the standard sized Barlows or Charlows? :)

I like the Madison Barlow a lot; much more than I thought I would. I was fortunate enough to win this one in a GAW from 9blades and have been very impressed by it. It's very well executed in my opinion, and the bone scales are as nice as any that I own. It's a handful and a lot of knife that is capable of most any chore. That said, at 4 1/4" its a bit bigger than what I typically carry to work each day, so it gets relegated to weekend duty for the most part. I'm being a bit long winded, but to cut to the chase, while I like the Northwoods a lot and find it a great addition to my collection, I like and carry standard sized Barlows/Charlows more. 3 1/2" folders tend to be my favorite size, so while I own quite a few knives that are both smaller and larger than that, Charlows are just about ideal for me. Hope this helps.

I really enjoy my GEC (including Northwoods) knives. Great quality. Easy to maintain an edge. Perhaps the best stag and bone on production slipjoints. This Charlow and Geppetto Whittler are two of my favorites. The darkened blade on the Charlow is how my iphone renders the direct sunlight. Just last night I cleaned it with a Sunshine Cloth.

Nice stag! I've got to pull the trigger on one of those yellow bone Charlow's with the clip blade one of these days.

Terrific looking patina. Surprised this is just from salad prep. I usually have to introduce blood to get that spectrum of color.

Nope all all veggies so far. This was not from one salad. I prepare food bulk for the week. So this is two bags of red/yellow/orange peppers cut into tiny rings.
and two cartons of the little cherry tomatoes cut in half. Mushrooms, lettuce, and cucumbers seemed to have no impact on the patina.

The combination of the clip blade and the yellow bone make this one of my absolute favorite knives. Perfect size. Great blade shape for nearly all types of cutting tasks. And I really like the bone which is starting to take on some character of its own. Yes, if it's a knife you're considering, you can't go wrong.
