I'm loving all the dark wood, great pics guys

These are my New Year's Eve knives :)

5 dollar yardsale find

$5 well spent in my opinion. It has certainly had lots of life wrung from her, but I see plenty of steel left. It should be considerably thinner overall and in theory should slice material easier than when it was new.

Could not think of anything more appropriate for me on the final day of the year than two of my old John Primble knives.:

Nice Charlow SH!!! ;):D

Happy New Year everyone!!! :)

I put up a new album (Old John Primble Collection) on my profile this morning. Plenty of John Primble pictures, for anyone that might be interested.:

WOW - a nice old knife in impressive condition there!! Gets my blood moving this morning.:eek::thumbup::thumbup::)

Thanks! It's almost too nice. I'm not sure if I should carry it! :o

I hate the thought of it being a safe queen, but I somehow don't feel right being the first one to put a new edge on the blade and start putting wear on it. What to do?, ... what to do?

It sure would instantly become a favorite one to have with me though! I bought it to carry... just didn't realize it was quite that nice. First dilemma of the year!!! Oh boy!

Those two Primbles are VERY NICE, btw!

I know where you are with your dilemma. Maybe you could carry it in a pocket by itself and also another knife, for any heavy use, at least until you decide. ;)

It is a fine old specimen and I often find it hard to be the first one too, especially on a near mint old knife.

I do take most all of my old knives out and carry them in a dedicated pocket - and often. It gives me satisfaction to carry an old knife.

I figure most of my old knives have already earned their keep and I semi-retire them, like old me.:D

Mine do not get hard use though - I leave that for knives of lesser value to me. ;)

Thank you for the comment.:)

Sounds like some good advice. Any excuse to carry an extra knife, eh? I realize that Schrade versions of the TL-29 are not exactly rare, but they sure don't come around very often in this condition. I'm pretty easy on all my knives. I was taught to take care of all my things, and especially good care of my tools, knives and guns. So, it definitely won't get abused, or even hard use. But, they only get sharpened for the first time ONCE.;)

Something to sleep on.
Cheers!

True enough and the one you show is by far the most beautiful example that I have ever seen. :)

If those 2 beauties were mine I would most certainly bring in the New Year with them!!:)

Thank you for the compliment on the Northfield :)

Hoping everyone has a Safe and Happy New Year!!! :)
