Thanks Sam and Ron too for your earlier comments.

Can't get any decent shots of it but it's BEYOND my expectations. The low riding blades, snap, type of blades, no gaps at all, the slant bolsters and I'm particularly impressed by the backspring. This is in itself a work of art, no thick clumsy spacers so it's slim and smooth. The weight is really reasonable, might be the wood as you pointed out Sam, but it carries lighter than many a single-blade for instance. It's perhaps a pity they haven't offered it in some more interesting bone for Northfield other than the Paintbrush. This one would be a marvel in smooth bone no question. I'm not usually one for a big multi blade knife at all, but you can have your cake and eat it with the Dixie:D

^^^^ Very nice Willgoy! I love African blackwood, it's by far my favorite of the wood scales. A fascinating wood too - the densest, heaviest (hardest?) wood on earth at 90 pounds per cubic foot! It's extremely durable and has a natural oil content that makes it highly water resistant too.

And speaking of African blackwood... This #77 in African blackwood arrived in my mailbox 3 weeks ago today and has completely owned my RFP in the #1 position 24/7 since. Nothing else has dislodged it since! The Peanut or Pemberton is always my #2 in watch pocket.

Right you are about the Blackwood, very fine grained stuff indeed.

When the Dixie arrived it was really hazy & grimy looking with oil/tarnish (might have been the airmail journey and winter temps) but soon took a decent lustre. The more carry, the better it shines.

That's a very good Pemberton too, I'd fancy a single blade in bone but they seem really elusive...

Regards, Will

@ Derek, Always nice knives Derek:thumbup:

Paul - I have a craving for a Fremont and all these beauties being posted lately is no help at all :D

Ron, my first ever as of two days ago? I had always admired, then once in hand I questioned why I waited so long:confused::o

Just because peer pressure is good for you Ron!

Very nice Jake, pardon my lack of cover identification but is yours "Oiled Bone" also or
"Ivory"?

Pressure! Pressure! Pressure! How much can a man stand :eek::D

Hang in there Ron with all this pressure you'll have a Diamond soon enough:D:thumbup:

^^^I love that smooth amber bone sheepfoot! I'll bet it has a very slim profile and "disappears" in the pocket.

Paul, my fremont is the oiled bone. It looked more yellow in the KSF photo when I bought it but it's a very nice off white color, which I'm happy about! When I carry it, I constantly roll it and hold it in my hand hoping that it takes on character of it's own
