Thanks for the link Jack, I couldn't figure out how I missed this thread till I saw the date, it was when my SIL was in the hospital with cancer, I was absent a lot from the forums the first 4 months of 2015.
That is really nice Jake. Never had a Northwoods yet , you may become an enabler.

Going "bailless" today:thumbup:

I think the bails will be coming off my Sunbrite & Chestnut also
I don't know how these are, but while I like a bail on some patterns, I don't like a loose one. I pick up a lot of old knives, and I would say that at least 95% of the ones I pick up with loose bails, have a ding out of the edge just where you'd expect it![]()
That's exactly what I'm wanting to avoid on my two.
You're right A.L. As soon as I received the knife, I said to myself, the Wharncliffe blade needs to go. It ruined the whole aesthetics of the knife. Not to mention comfort. I sent it off to our friend Glennbad for rework and he did a great job of preserving the beautiful peach seed jig bone. now I can use it in comfort.Wowzie! That's how the knife should have been done, and I actually thought of that when I had mine. I loved the caramel toffee bone but the grip on the knife was just pain.
Mark, I think it looks better with the bail actually but feels better without. When working I close the knife against my pants leg and just about got the blade to close on the bail a couple of times....I'll experiment a few days and may go back?
