What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Great carries everyone and great pictures of them:thumbsup:

Micarta #77 today.

For the most part, yes. I'll carry the same set all week. Unless there's a particular task that calls for something different. Or a new knife shows up. Or a whim... :p

Me too. Back when pennies were all copper. :)
Nice looking nautical knife. What is the shield/inlay material?
Thanks for the informative replies, Rachel.
The handles of the marinera are a synthetic called ABS (don't remember off-hand what that stands for, but my layman's opinion is that it's hard plastic. The anchor is "engraved" somehow (maybe via some sort of heated stamp that melts the shape into the surface?), and my guess is that it's simply painted white. But all of those conjectures are unimpeded by the thought process. ;)

Thanks, Aias. :) But I sometimes wonder if "lots of character" is polite code for "when you gonna clean that thing up a bit" which is a perfectly appropriate comment in the case of my Holub. It deserves a little attention from me to make it more presentable.

Nope! I say it as I mean it... I love to *see the usage*... it says history, work, the passage of time... and reminds me of the knives/ tools my maternal grandfather used to store in a dusty room in his home. I could explore in there for hours; sadly all that is gone. So, when I see a knife like your Holub, I see the character of things of a yesterday long gone but sweetly remembered.

Thanks for posting knives like that... and don't clean it up![/QUOTE]
Thanks for the kind words, Aias. :) (But I still think that's one of a few knives that I'll give some TLC if I ever find some time this summer or when I retire or whenever.)

I'm still a little slow in posting lately. I'm feeling better every day. A belated thanks to Ron, Jack and Gary for your well wishes.

I carried these two today.

Have a good one!

Ken K.
A little better every day sounds like an excellent plan, Ken. I'm usually enamored with your Alox, but the outstanding stag on your Eric's Jack has my full attention today!

Love any excuse to take this one out. At 5.6 oz. it's usually in a belt sheath, but lately it's been in the watch pocket of my jeans.

I know what you mean about puddles and piles, FBC! :D
I'm not familiar with the Prine duet album,so thanks for the referral; I'm gonna check that out sometime! (About the time I became a dad almost 29 years ago, my musical interests kind of got lost in the shuffle.)

Hey! I'm carrying that same model this week (see below). Fantastic knife!

I took out an old friend for a beer today.

But I still couldn't keep away from the 66 slim.

What a pulchritudinous pair, Doctor! Is that Northwoods a Presidential? Your 66 Slim is exquisite; when I was "voting" in the age thread, it struck me that I'll turn 66 this year, and I really ought to get me a 66 slim for my birthday, and yours just "fans that flame"! :D

Thanks you Paul. We are doing pretty good. I hope all is well with you and yours.

Chris
Good to see you posting here again, Chris. Will you be posting a big mess of fish again any time soon?;)

Tonight I switched over to the little RR stockman in stag.

I get the no time--between my wife and I being Professors, she also being chair of her dept, and our four kids, time is tight. However--and you are not going to want to hear this--my TAs have the burden of grading exams and papers for me... But when your done, I would have loved to be able to buy you a beer and trade stories, of academia or otherwise. Hang in there, brother!

Anthony

Carrying one of the top favorites in my collection. Will never part with this one.
