What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thanks for the kind words, Jack. Much appreciated.

I always come back to my trusty #66. It fits perfectly. Has these wonderful blades and a mighty snap. Just plain awesome!!

Very nice! no really very nice!

I wonder if you would be so kind as to describe what it feels like to carry and/or use?

WOW I'm in love.............

Thank you for the kind words. The drop point from Bob is fantastic. Very nice handle shape on the lignum vitae handle, heavy duty with 3/16 stock of 154cm(before it turned to crap and Bob started buying ATS34 from Hitachi), even grinds with even tapers. Blade ground on a big wheel for a large hollow grind that performs well with being strong at the same time. If you ever handle many Loveless knives, there is just a feel to them, Bob was one of the best for a reason.

Fantastic knife, Brett! There must be a great backstory to it. Despite what you wrote, I really like the etch. Very olde timey.

But regardless of what the maker calls it, that there is a Bullhead, not a Moose. A Bullhead is an equal-end knife, like a Cattle Knife is equal end. Bulls' horns are usually symmetric. The Moose pattern is serpentine, like a Stockman. Moose antlers are often asymmetric.

I think there's been confusion on that point ever since the 2010 Forum knife. It was called a Moose, but was really a Bullhead. I know because Blues deigned it so. :D

Thanks R RobbW . I actually thought of that after I hit post. I wasn't actually sure so I just left it as is. As far as the etch, I really like it, that is why I inferred it would be a shame since Im going to use the blade. It will be lost in time.

Thank you Half/Stop Half/Stop . I appreciate that Ron.

Had this Hartkoph in my pocket while trying to get my lawn back into shape .

Harry
That stag Hartkopf is a great souvenir of your trip, Harry! I like the lighter-colored "Euro stag" covers!

Stunning Lloyd stag, as usual!:thumbsup:

Gary, that is some good-lookin' bone on the sowbelly!
Thanks, Ratbert; I'm sure not gonna argue with you about it! :D

I got a rare day on the water.

Chris
You may not get on the water often, Chris, but you sure seem to make the most of it when you do!

Thanks GT, I admire your enthusiasm for the whole thread!

Regards, Will
I appreciate your kind comment, Will. :)

I've been carrying this ebony AW Lambsfoot a lot this past week :)

Atiger, you are a major-league Barlow hunter! Another fantastic vintage beauty!

Thank you Mr. "5K Qs", they are the marks of the respective artisans.
Thanks, Pt-Luso. One mark I would call a quail, but I can't figure out what's going on with the little man (?) and the wavy lines on the other blade.

The rains came and washed everything away
The stone came and with it a new edge
Out from the mountain they walked
"A new day", said the Colonial
"A new me", said the Imperial
"An I that sees me", said I

Those are a couple of commendable old knives, Gev! I think I like my old Imperials and Colonials at least as well as any of my other knives.:rolleyes::thumbsup:

For the past few weeks, the Buck 301 I got from JD Bear has been my sole edc. It's sooo weird in a very good way to have a Buck stockman back in my pocket after so many years. I don't foresee it getting replaced at this stage of my life.

Carl, I'm glad you're finding the Buck 301 to be as good as you remembered it! In my experience, that's kind of rare; my memories tend to over-rate the experiences to which they're attached.

That's one of my favorite pairings that you post here, Tom!:thumbsup:

Hey! Welcome back, Brett! That's a distinguished knife you're sporting there!

After work I went with the Marbles ram's horn sowbelly and a red alox Cadet.
It's perfect weather here today (for a change!), mid '70s, sunny and beautiful.

That's a very desirable pair, Jeff! (And I can actually replicate it when the mood strikes me! ;))

what a great pic! and a nice even patina...

Go Preds!!! :eek::D
Ron, I may not know knives, but I know what I like, and that equal-end jack is remarkable, IMHO!!

Here are some of my knives for the week.
In the kitchen for food prep I have the Taylor-Schrade-Walden muskrat again (thanks, Randy; hope you're getting stronger each day), along with the Buck clip/spey toothpick I carried last week:

?
Yes, it was invisible ink on a white screen. but even secret agents leave finger prints...
Sorry about that .. Now i know some folks are not using the black screen. How is the red? 5K Qs ?
