What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

...
Many thanks GT, I also had my wee MAM picnic knife with me. I meant to get a pic of my Joker, but was distracted by the sight of my friend's 3-year old trying to eat his own weight in vegetable samosas! :D Here's a relatively recent pic though

...
Thanks for the Joker pic, Jack; good to see it "with some miles on it." The handle is much darker! Did you put some kind of finish on the wood? A garlic rub, perhaps?? :D Much to my waistline's dismay, I can certainly relate to the 3-year-old you described!

Hey, @scrteened porch: check out the background. :D
r8shell, that whittler looks worthy of a wizard (or an idle fellow/fellowette)! Impeccable!

Remarkable knife, Travman! And I'm always impressed with how successfully you've trained your dog to photobomb! ;)

Into the Garden (series)

I'm enjoying your "Into the Garden" series, Gev! (Alternate title: Into the Menagerie. ;)) That's a handsome red knife!

2007 GEC Cuban/Stockman covered with Buffalo Horn with 1095 blades. Love that long Turkish Clip, put an edge on the blades and striped them to hair poppin' sharp and it's been in my pocket since it arrived. (also a gift from a friend here) I threw threw this one in a slip sheath to keep it lookin' new as long as possible. :)

Ted, that Cuban stock knife is striking!:thumbsup:

Paul T., you sure have some stately old knives!

...
I went with these two today.

Have a great evening all!

Ken K.
Exquisite pair of enthralling equal-enders, Ken!

...
Nice GT! Especially The Math Knife (love the lanyard on the SAK too)
...
Carbon fiber and some electric blue ALOX for me today. Happy Friday All!

Tom, that blue Farmer is definitely electrifying! Thanks for the kind words about my little knives. The Minichamp lanyard took me several tries to get "just right", with the traditional unlucky 13 loops on the hangman's noose!

...
I carried one of my new 54's today. This Brown Burlap was in the pocket! :D Hoping everyone has a great weekend!

I will have these 2 along for today. Have a great weekend!:D
...
You were up early on a Saturday morning, Ron! Congrats on those new 54s!:thumbsup: FWIW, I'm partial to the burlap; one of my sisters once made me a necktie out of an old burlap feedsack that I wore proudly and often! :D (Unfortunately, I seem to have lost it somehow. :()

#47 Viper today.

Nice photo, Barrett! Good to see you on The Porch again! :) That Viper looks great, but can you "sell me" on a wharncliffe blade? What are the strengths or the attraction of that blade shape?

Sleek, slender, slim, and slick, Dee!!:thumbsup: I guess you won't be singing this song anytime soon:
:D

Thank you, Ron. Maybe I'll get a chance to whittle this weekend. :)
Hey, I was thinking that very thing, r8shell! In fact, last night when I took the dogs out, I pulled out an old "spoon" that I started last summer and shaved the handle down a bit. Felt good!!! ;)

I don't recognize that knife, wilsonhome, but I recognize greatness when I see it!! Beauty!:thumbsup:

Had these two TEWs with me today . Had to use an older picture because of weather . Lambsfoot and Sheepsfoot

Harry
Sublime pair, Harry!

Thank you my friend . It is good to be back and to be able to carry knives other than my old Ulster Whittler . We did have a great trip . We did meet a lot of nice people , saw some wonderful sights , went to places we thought we little country kids never thought about before , learned a little German , tasted some very nice liquid refreshments , bought a few knives , and just generally had one Heck Of A Time . Looking forward to seeing you and Pam in Titusville .

Harry
:thumbsup::thumbsup::D:D:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Glad you had a great time Harry

Jack, I'm suddenly seeing that lambsfoot in at least a couple of threads, and have no memory of it. Thanks for the links you provided in the Guardians thread; I hope to check those out when the rain moves in this weekend. As always, you've posted fascinating knives. I've often looked at that "squirrelly" Douk-Douk model, drawn by the spearpoint blade and the "animal shield".

Holiday weekend here in the US, and I finally "closed the books" on my spring semester yesterday, so I'm going to work hard at relaxing this weekend! :p Carrying some recent purchases that haven't made it onto my rotation schedule yet (I plan to start updating that schedule this weekend).
A matching pair from the Marbles Workman series, camper and "trapper":

Like the squirrel knife Jack.

Thanks a lot Alan :)

That photo was actually taken a while back, the handle has darkened even more I think since then, but the blade hasn't darkened as much as the blade on my Aitor Castor, which is virtually black. The Joker steel seems to darken, and then lighten again  LOL! I know what you mean my friend! :D

That one goes back quite a while GT :) They are inexpensive knives, but well-made I think, and everyone I've gifted them to has been very pleased with them I think. I haven't seen one for sale in a while though. I think you'd like the L'Ecureuil, like the Douk-Douk, it's a simple well-made knife, with a blade which takes a great edge :) Have a relaxing weekend pal, it sounds like you've earned it. I like your pair of matching pairs :)

Nice! I started a little spoon a while back, but I can't find it now. Maybe that means I should spend my holiday weekend decluttering/cleaning...Naaah. I'm too idle. :p

Hi, I'm a new guy here. Just joined today. I've been scouring this forum for a couple of months. You have some awesome people here, looks like from all over the world. Me, I'm a bit of an antique myself, having been retired for several years. I hope to be able to participate more, once I figure everything out, like how to post pics, and whether I have even put this post in the right place...lol. I placed it here because I have been reading this topic for days. You guys have some beautiful knives, and I am enjoying looking at all the photos.

Welcome to The Porch Blade Chaser, most of us are still trying to figure everything out! ;)

An old throwback, one of my first Case knives, I got it as a work knife but it was soon replaced by a Schrade 51OT because of the nature of my job I needed a sturdy lockback, now some 30 years later my requirements aren't as stringent and I can enjoy non locking blades offered by the more traditional patterns. Anyway, I saw ti's in the box and wiped it down, a quick stopping and a few drops of oil in the joint and it was ready for some pocket time and use, Man I wish that was all I needed, a wipe down a oil in the joints. :D ;)

This has always competed with my Alox Farmer as a favorite take a walk down the trail knife, the Farmer usually wins on account of the saw but the Case Camper saw it's fair share of use over the years. :)

Welcome BladeChaser!

Moving day with Daughter #2 today. Getting too old for this:( so figured I needed 2 to assist, a rarity for me.
