What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Great Looking pics fellas. Carrying the 85 today:

Jeff, I wasn't sure where this comment was leading, at first, but once I understood its import I surmise that the shape enhanced grip when using the screwdriver blade. It may be that the makers of the newer ti 29's aren't that concerned. FYI, I like the comfort of my worn-in Redwings and Irish Setters - hike and hunt all day and still relax in them afterwards.

Ignoring the news obsession of late,
it is a butt made for groping. LOL

I see your point about making it that way for using as a screwdriver.

Northwoods Hawthorne Jack with fall colors

That is a gorgeous photo of that Northwoods.

Classic quality in a classy carry, Jack.

Beautiful, just a beautiful knife, Scott.:thumbsup:

I've spent the last two days hiking with Barlows. Here are a few photos of my cutlery excursions.

Yesterday, on top of a ridge we found this bench.

Later, nearby.

On the way back, in the midst of forest was this farm implement.

Today along a river, I climbed inside of a Sycamore tree to photograph another Barlow.

Have a great weekend all!

Thanks RDaneel!! Great looking barlows and some wonderful scenery on your hikes. Really love the jigging on that Schrade.

Pretty magical pic, Dee!:cool::cool::thumbsup: Moose?

Very fine, Shawn; I like that double glint off the left bolsters!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

New to me....man these 2013 longpull 15s were something else.

I'm carrying the GSK. I was puzzled by the awl on this one. I don't know if it was originally rounded for safety  or had lost its tip. I put a bit of a chisel grind on the back, and while it doesn't work as a punch, it's great for scraping stuff that I don't want to scratch up.

You and your GSK are both Good Scouts, r8shell! ;):thumbsup::cool: I have some knives with a blade that might be a good candidate for the scraper conversion!

View attachment 798825 My first traditional since a boy. Mostly Spydies, BM & ZTs now. Kinda likin' this puppy. I fear another chapter in the book of addiction.
Welcome to The Porch, Just! :):thumbsup: That's one heck of a grand traditional to jump in with!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

a little bit cold
a little bit lonely
a little bit hopeful
but I feel strong
know that I can
still sitting on a shelf
but starting to feel more like me on a good day

Evocative verse and knife, Gev!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Had this little Case in my pocket all day .

Harry
That outstanding little stockman in your pocket must have put quite a spring in your step, Harry!:thumbsup::thumbsup:;)

Hey, cool! We've got twinsy knives! :D

Thanks Gary. The numbered seal of approval.
:D:D

It's hard to get away from the horn Lambfoot isn't it, GT? Gorgeous knife.
Thanks, Shawn. :) I'm learning a whole new level of CF&CE! :D

...
Thanks GT, I still think you need a bandolier! :D  Lovely line-up today my friend, and I'm very pleased you're liking the Lambsfoot :)
...

More fashion advice from Mr. Black!! :D:thumbsup: I just checked, and found that I can wear my knife-laden fanny pack in bandolier style; will that do?? ;) I'm liking the Guardians Lambsfoot VERY much, but I'm not using it yet!:rolleyes: I've got to get it on kitchen duty soon!:thumbsup: Fine pair for you today, Jack; that pearl is especially striking to me!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Terrific ebony Tacosa, Pt-Luso! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

I've been in a continental frame of mind of late, and even dined at al Italian restaurant last night. My little Sardinian resolza has been in my pocket for some days now, and it's a very capable little cutter.

Carl, you're an international man of mystery with that revered resolza in your pocket!:thumbsup:;)

...
Thanks GT! Tasty Trio, great pics as well
...
It is a carbon fiber day for me as well :).

Thanks for the kind words, Tom. :) That's a superlative thematic pic you've posted!:cool::thumbsup:

I picked a utilitarian duo for today. If I can't get through the day with these two, I should stay home.

Pair of European classic, Stuart!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

One of these days I’m going to have to buy an Opinel to see what all the fuss is about. Nice combo.
Clay, FWIW, for me the fuss with the Opinel is all about the cutting. To quote jackknife (see below and above), an Opinel "cuts like the dickens.":thumbsup::cool::D

It goes with the Italian scooters!

A nice plate of lasagna, some Italian wine, a cruise on the Italian Vespa's in the warm Texas sunshine, and then a nice Italian pipe afterward on the back patio. A perfect day!...
Edited to add; Jack, the only thing to top it would be a nice pub meal, some cool John Courage ale, and riding the vintage Triumph Bony back to the narrow boat where we'd be staying!
Carl, that photo of Vespas at the gas pump must be quite rare; I imagine Vespas and gasoline are like camels and water! ;)

Another serrated knife, Schrade 890T

Another nice serrated model, Josh, and Schrade USA to boot!:thumbsup::cool:

Travman, I have to say that, to my eye, you have the best looking collection of GEC knives bar none. Please let us know if you ever decide to downsize! And your photographs are well done and interesting. Congratulations, and thanks for posting.
Can't disagree with what LT writes!! ;)

That's some ravishing red bone, Tim!:thumbsup::cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Here are 3 knives I ALWAYS carry, even though I rotate through all my other knives.

Thanks Dean :) Wow! Fantastic Barlow pics! I love it when you come across old farm stuff way out in the woods

LOL! Who'd a thunk it?! :D Sounds good to me my friend! :D That's good to hear :) Me too, I was just thinking about it, turned out way better than I had hoped for :) I'm using mine, but not for fruit or kitchen duty yet ;) Thank you sir, an old Keen Kutter Peanut I am very fond of :)

You and your GSK are both Good Scouts, r8shell! ;):thumbsup::cool: I have some knives with a blade that might be a good candidate for the scraper conversion!
Thanks, GT! I made up for a lack of a point on the awl by sharpening the point on the can opener. :D I always found campers to be kind of bulky, but I'm really liking the extra tools.

:D New phrase to me, but I like it! :D
I think it goes back to elementary school. If another girl had the same outfit on, everyone would say "You're Twinsys!" Carrying the Girl Scout knife must be making me regress. Maybe I'll carry it through Thanksgiving, since my brothers will be visiting and we tend to revert to childish behavior anyway. :p

Outstanding handle material on each of those, Stuart!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Congrats, Clay!!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Looks like you're back to a pretty hardcore Cadet commander! ;):thumbsup:

Wonderful Wednesday Wood, Tom!:thumbsup::cool: (As is often the case, I'm at least a day behind in "paying my respects".)

That serrated blade is very appealing to me, Josh! I've been looking around for a traditional with a serrated blade, and I like your model at least as much as every other one I've seen (haven't run across very many, in fact).:cool::thumbsup:

That's a sublime Buck pen knife, oldtymer!:thumbsup::cool:

Superb, Dylan. They "walk in beauty, like the night...":thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Fetching line-up for two days, r8shell! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Classy classic, Ron! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks for the informative responses, Clay and Josh! :):thumbsup:

The more I learn about that knife, the more distinctive it gets!!:cool::cool::thumbsup: Thanks for the follow-up, lambertiana!:thumbsup::cool:

Thanks, Stuart, and I totally agree! :) I'm not a huge fan of smooth bone covers, but I sure like this version of smooth tobacco bone.:cool: (I had an earlier model that I gave away, but it was a much lighter color. This rich brown replacement is much nicer IMHO.)

Thanks for the sartorial suggestions, Jack, and for affirming the desirability of a RR Half Hawk! ;):thumbsup: If you're going to carry only one knife, that's certainly an exemplary choice!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Much different from GEC #35s, but fine old knives, Stuart!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Congrats on the compelling Queen City canoe, Alan!!:thumbsup::cool: This canoe enthusiast approves with every fiber of his being! ;):thumbsup:

Miscellaneous Knife of the Week for me is this highly-desirable buffalo horn, EO, spear/coping GEC #85 (thanks, Paul):

My K.N.I.F.E. knife this week is this yeller delrin Case pen knife that I find quite irresistible:

This knife has been in my pocket every day since it arrived!:eek: It's highly likely that it will be one of my literal EDC knives! (Thanks, mrknife):

I recognized "twinsys" from my euphoric youth in coastal North Carolina (1950-1970). It sometimes led to double-dating.
