What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Wow! Great to see that :) I'll post another pic so they're on the same page

I find it pretty cool that two knives likely made well over a hundred years ago, and an ocean apart can look so similar.:cool: I wonder about the similarity (or difference) in size...Miller Bros measures 3-5/16 closed, tip to tip.

I couldn’t find a way to double-like these GE jr and Jack, so I quoted the photos. Gorgeous and classic sleeve boards, gentlemen! The tip bolsters knock them out of the park.:thumbsup:

Thanks, Dean!

The Queen City that I was carrying yesterday is such a solid, well-built knife (equal to my modern Benchmade, Spyderco, Case knives) that I started to repeat it today, However, other old knives begged for some fresh air, so they are in my pockets today (Queen City returns tonight to join them at the cocktail hour). A Schrade Walden equal end jack (1946-1973) and a PAL easy opener jack (1940-1945).

Yes, it's incredible :) I make my Morton 3 5/16" too!

What a lovely pair! :)

I'm off for a hike tomorrow, all being well :) I've got these three set aside. Have a great weekend folks

Half/Stop Half/Stop That Case stockman is a gem. looks like it's seen some pocket time with care.
- Stuart
Thanks Stuart! It’s seen a fair amount of pocket time in the last 45 years!;) This knife has a story! Stay tuned! :D

Very nice Ron :)

I'm sticking with this Sambar Lambsfoot today, but thought I'd add a penknife (Sleeveboard by William Morton) ;)

Thanks Jack! That’s a dandy pair you’ve chosen for today!:thumbsup:

That NF is beautiful!
Thanks for the compliment! :)

Today, these two provided a little sunshine on an otherwise dreary day! :D

Slimline Trapper is a fine knife GT, I think you may take to it.

Regards, Will
Thanks, Will. :) I like it much better than a regular full-size trapper, but the slimline and a clip/spey mini trapper are seriously vying to be my favorite trapper variation. ;)

...
Well earned my friend, those new arrivals are pretty dandy too :)

These two for me today

Thanks, Jack. :) Your stag and unicorn go together like drink and food!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

... I do have to keep an eye on it when the spring rains come, lest it sprout again. ;):D:D

:D:D I like the wavy and speckly covers on your duo today!:thumbsup::cool:

... Just these 2 today!

JUST those two, eh, Jason?? :D:D Kinda like saying I hope I can get by on just a million bucks today! Phenomenal pair!:cool::thumbsup:

... I like you collection today - I knew the canoe, the Camillus is classic, but that Case trapper is very sweet looking. could be a perfect EDC bird&trout knife. The Vic farmer has me shopping again (drat!).

Thanks, as always, for the kind words, Stuart! :)

Another beautiful bone bonanza, Stuart!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Those covers remind me of some kind of delicious baked goods!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

5K Qs 5K Qs I’m always in admiration of your ‘math fancier’ knives. Your “Perfect Equation Knife” makes me smile every time I look at it. I found it funny for a knife to have a multiplication table. I query its reason for existence, other than knife? Was it to help adults who couldn’t do math and/or for a child? Whatever it was made for - it found its way to the right owner.

Thanks for the encouragement about my math-related knives, HST. :) Speaking of which, a black Pioneer is a knife you can really count on! ;):thumbsup:

Ill be carrying this for a while
It's a major league pruner, alright!:thumbsup::cool: Are you a lanyard person? I'll bet a lanyard would look awesome, too. ;)

That stag 73 is a grand slam, Taylor!:thumbsup::cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Just to be clear, the glove is not mine. :) But the knife is.

Great to see that crimson TC again, Dean!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I was dismayed to lose one of my winter gloves earlier this week, but the one in your photo isn't it. ;)

Holy Smokes, HWF, that is an incredibly striking Harness Jack!:thumbsup::cool: I'm always a sucker for black handles and silver hardware, and then to see that color scheme mirrored in the dark patina and gleaming edge of the blade really grabs me!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

15 year old Queen built Robeson medium stockman today.

Frank and Jeff, those are a couple of standout stock knives!!:thumbsup::cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Nothing heavy to do today, so I´ll take my Hen&Rooster Whittler
dscf3222.jpg
Stellar stag whittler, Dirk! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

@Travman That Case canoe is gorgeous, especially for what appears to be a 50+ year old knife. The redbone is excellent. I defer to the canoeseur, 5K Qs 5K Qs , for any further comments other than "thank you for sharing".
- Stuart
Travman, that's a captivating canoe model!:thumbsup::cool: Stuart, I appreciate your deferring to me, but my canoesseurship is based more on enthusiasm than expertise!

+5K!!!:cool: I totally agree with Dean that you've displayed a very notable pair here, Jack and GE Jr!!:thumbsup::cool: Sleeveboard pattern, tip bolsters, similar shields, and the covers are all intriguing. I think Will referred to Jack's knife as having "tree ring cell" covers; GE Jr, do you know if yours are what was called "waterfall celluloid"?

Big lambsfoot today.

I really like the horn on this one

P2COteD.jpg
Yowza!! I like the reddish horn on that large lambsfoot, too, @strokednbored !:thumbsup::thumbsup:

And a little tip: add a bit of beeswax laden hemp/jute twine to your Douk Douk; twist this around briefly between your fingers and you'll get a waxy coating that'll greatly aid in gripping this knife in wet conditions. You can also rub this on the blade to curtail rust.
Dapper Douk-Douk, and thanks for the beeswax hint, solphilos!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Jer, that Camillus has aroused my curiosity! How many blades does it have? Is it some kind of scout pattern? Can we see more photos?:cool::thumbsup:

Congrats on getting that cool mod of a 3-tool electrician, r8shell!:cool::thumbsup:

Excellent, Dylan!:thumbsup: You're quite the matchmaker! ;)

Exemplary Laguiole, Will! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

That is a boss Case Barlow, E ecallahan !!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Premium pair, Stuart; I especially like the bailed EO spear/pen PAL!:thumbsup::cool: Don't know why that style jack has such appeal for me.:rolleyes:

Fine choice of three for the road, Jack!:cool::thumbsup: Is there a companion volume to that book that many of us on The Porch would appreciate, titled Things to Do with 50 Pen Knives? ;)

Nice two blade Davison. Don't see many two bladed ones.

Thanks! Todd doesn’t enjoy 2 and 3 blade as much as singles so yes, there are a lot fewer of them. This one has two other really uncommon traits for Davison. It’s a sunken joint, which he has made very few of. He prefers the lines of a normal joint. And secondly, it’s an even ‘00 number. Most of those have gone to specific people, a friend of Todd’s and another member here. This one is #1200. I previously thought about selling it but elected not to (when a member backed out after how much I told him I liked it) and currently glad I did. It’s been getting some pocket time lately!
