...
Thank you, Gary! I have to get into the habit of carrying my "best" knives on Sunday...
My wife's wall contains primarily round stones and lots of mortar - definitely NOT dry-stone construction! Still impressive to me (my main role was digging the trench and pouring a concrete footing, and transporting lots of rocks)! Thanks for all your kind words my friendThat's cool about your stone wall
John Maleham was telling me and @herder about how he has been building a dry-stone wall for the past couple of years

And for those who suffered through my giddy gibberish yesterday about getting a new rifle, here's a pic of my new squirrel gun on steroids. Marlin model 60 (how to make an inexpensive gun into an expensive one in 3 easy payments).

Definitely not being sarcastic about the tie. I would absolutely wear it. Paisley is my favorite pattern. That red BSA half-whittler looks better every time you post it!
Congrats on another appealing Case teardrop, Dean!A 2-blade this time; do you find the pen blade big enough to be useful?
My wife's wall contains primarily round stones and lots of mortar - definitely NOT dry-stone construction! Still impressive to me (my main role was digging the trench and pouring a concrete footing, and transporting lots of rocks)!
That pair is becoming an "item"!
Congrats, Travman; that's an interesting and beguiling take on the canoe pattern from GEC!When I first started frequenting Blade Forums, I soon discovered an affinity for canoes, and I considered getting an ebony or a rust-red GEC #16, both of which share a birthday with me.
At the time, there were lots of GEC canoes at dealers, and I remember collector knives had both of the ones I was interested in available at what would now be considered very reasonable prices, I think. But I waited too long to make up my mind, and eventually they disappeared. Let that be a lesson to me (and all of us
)!
(If I said that, my daughter would tell me, "TMI!!"
)
Thanks for the info, Ken. I went back to that thread (which I think is a great thread even though I haven't been keeping up with it regularly) and found your "wheels" of 26s. Very impressive!!
I especially like the shot with the blades open, showing off very attractive patina on most of the knives!
Thanks for the paisley tie support!I showed these comments to my wife and daughter, who think I have almost no sense of fashion, and they said, "You realize these guys are all being sarcastic, don't you?"
I told them there's little sarcasm on The Porch and that I have quite the respected reputation as a fashion leader here. They seemed unimpressed.
Prester John , in 1969 almost everything was groovy!
Ron & Stuart, thanks for the compliments about my Rough Rider smooth tobacco bone sowbelly. The color of RR's smooth tobacco bone seems to vary from pale yellow to rich dark brown (like the sowbelly), and I have some of each. I definitely prefer the rich brown by a huge margin!
Congrats, Paul, on that captivating and well-deserved gift, and plaudits to Duncan for his thoughtful kindness!!
Those are a couple of great looking knives, @SVTFreak and @Leslie Tomville !!
Victory cigars for sure, Ron!!
I see what you did there, @fonedork !A lot of folks around here don't like leg knives, but I think everyone should have at least one of them. Your ebony version is VERY classy IMHO!
I know almost nothing about guns, but I don't think I've ever seen one with grain like that! Congrats, Stuart! And those trappers are a couple of long, cool Winnies in a Black Box (??); stunners!!
