What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Did someone say skinning animals with a spey blade?

I vote "squirrel". Great work all around!

Is the Wostenholm a pattern they'd sell in Australia (castrator)?

Glad to see a spirited defense of the spey blade!
A great old I*XL jack with TWO!!!

And I notice the accesories are stored in the butt in order to keep them clean.:D

That is quite a distinctive Wooden duo you have posted today.:cool: They are a very classy pair indeed! :D

Thanks, guys. I don't know about Australian sales, but it should be a much used knife down under (so to speak). Jeff, I think the tools are to clean your teeth after, er, never mind . . .

I don’t trust myself enough to pick my teeth with it!

Trust me, don't try it, but that Turkish clip does work, in a pinch, much better than a sheepfoot, spear, or spey.

I'm not really into spey blades, but I really like the one on that Schrade. :)

I agree that the Schrade is a beauty.

Thanks for showing that one, @AlwaysTomboy !:cool::thumbsup: Now I know what my "dog knife" aspires to! ;) Always enjoy seeing selections from your impressive Henckels holdings.:cool::thumbsup:

That scratted bone Ancient is arresting!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thank you, I think so too!

To answer your question, Gary: Schrade Walden USA 897UH was made 1967 - 1973, then Walden was dropped and it was just Schrade from then on.
Thanks for the bonus info on the timeframe for that Uncle Henry, Dean. :)

Funny, I was thinking the exact same thing :)
I only mentioned it selfishly , since I'm quite sure I'd choose the pen set-up of the Slim over the 2-blade jack set-up.

Dave has a tutorial on how to do a bloodknot. This shows the whole rig, my friend.

Yet another engaging TL-29 mod, this time in micarta; the small sheepsfoot is cool!:cool::thumbsup:
How many different covers do you have for your modified linesman knives? I can remember micarta, bocote, some other wood ?), and stag for sure!:thumbsup:

I seem to always forget the themed days,... How about "Micartaless Monday"?
I'd support that! Fetching couple of knives for you today, Joshua!!:thumbsup::cool:

Oh yeah! I'll be there. Just made my hotel reservations last night. That is me in my profile picture. If you see me, don't be shy. Looking forward to it.
Hope you and all the other "Rendezvousers" have a fantastic time and safe travels!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks, GT. The sleeveboard is 2 3/4", the bottle opener is 2 5/8".

Handsome horn (?) I*XL, Mitch!:cool::thumbsup: Does the pile side cover look similar?

Well, I was required to tote and haul mulch from the store today. :) I felt my Ulster Barlow aka number 10 was the best knife for this situation.

OI, OI!!! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Intriguing old Case jack, Steve!:cool::thumbsup:

I've been totin this Case stockman pretty much every day sinc it arrived in my mailbox, 6347 SS,... I am really digging this particular Case knife...
Land Sakes! That's a laudable stockman with intriguing covers!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Is it heavier than it looks, with its weight deforming the drinking glass it rests on??;)

I got my Ebony gunstock jack yesterday and am totin' it today. It really is a handsome knife.

Congrats on each of you scoring one of the majestic new GEC gunstocks, @TheFactor and Dean !:cool::thumbsup:

Notable pair, Jack!:cool::thumbsup: Love the stag/canal photo!

IMHO, that's the secret to a happy and healthy existence on The Porch right there, Jeff!!:thumbsup:;) And I'm vicariously enjoying that powerful old-school trapper/stockman pair you posted!:cool::thumbsup:

Quintessential pocket knife, Will! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Nothing wrong with Drop Points, Spears, Wharncliffes, feet from Sheep and Lambs, Joshua. Speys? I don't think so....

Thanks, Will
I'll come to the defense of the downtrodden spey blade! My current quest is to find a "truly improved" mini trapper with spey and wharncliffe combination. I use the spey blade on my mini trappers far more than I use the clip blade.

For my totin' on Twosday, I've got binary barlows....

I need more info on Pelmanism. If it really banishes stupidity and morbid thoughts, we need it badly!

I looked it up, and it’s real.

Fantastic pair Stuart

Is the Wostenholm a pattern they'd sell in Australia (castrator)?

I believe the pattern was known as the Western Castrator in Australia

Wednesday afternoon already and I haven't posted any of this week's carries in this thread yet. :( No time like the present to get started.

Purely a coincidence, but my International Knife of the Week is a Douk-Douk from France, home of the World Cup winners:
d-d.dock1.jpg

I also have another knife from a foreign land, but it's serving as Lambsfoot of the Week. It's the stag senator I won in a GAW (thanks, @R.c.s ), and I call it my Man Jack:
MJ.pile.V.wisteria.jpg

I have another stag knife (from Germany) that is my Stag/Horn Knife of the Week, an AG Russell Mohawk canoe:

I have another canoe that fills the role of Canoe of the Week, a cracked ice Chinese Imperial:

Carrying my second oldest knife today. (My first was a cheapie my dad had given me to carry around and show I was responsible enough to handle one.) This was my first real, brand new, quality knife. I’ve had this one for at least forty years, maybe a tad longer. It was a gift from a dear friend of my grandma. I really treasured it, and as a result babied it, which is why it’s still in such great shape.

Every time I see you with this knife I wonder, "when is he going to man up and start using that thing!?"
It is a beast! When I wasn't close to my pruning shears, I used it to cut some blackberry vines back. This knife is a work horse. It's definitely in my top 3 right now. 1.) #77 2.) #73 3.) #43.

Case Small Trapper in Black Delrin... Not fancy but does the job.

Useful>fancy in my book.
But I do think she’s quite beautiful.

Went camping as a graduation vacation and of course took way too many knives with me :D

Huh? What’s this “too many knives”?!?!

Where are/were you camping?

5K Qs 5K Qs ,

Glad you could vicariously experience my knives! Way too many heavy hitters on the porch to try to keep up or compete.
Regarding my tl-29s, I still have some materials to try ~ bubinga, walnut, maybe ash, and bone. For the record, I find the screw driver blade to be so useful, it almost seems sinful to remove or reshape them. I “usually” only do that on knives that have already been ground on. But the plethora of GEC Boy’s knives on BF lately gave me the itch for a couple one blade jacks.:D

BTW, did the cursed Autofill spoil your fishing pun?
