I love that Brass Tyne. You really made it gleam.

Thanks Stuart. I love the GW Tyne/metallic cell duo. Especially the TYNE

Great googley moogley!! Some of those guys were barefoot (as if it really mattered). I'd like to see some of the practice runs. Yikes!!

Beautiful on both sides, bud. Thanks for sharing.

They’re all gorgeous. That bottom one has so much character(and Guano).:)

Thanks Jack! Hope your having a good day! :)

Thanks Ron, you too my friend :)

Metallic Monday? Why not? A Geo. Wostenholm pruner in brass and a brassy metallic celluloid (?) Imperial single blade pen (with ball bearing opening lock) that dates around 1939-1942 (according to the patent numbers).

Today is Carnival (or Mardi Gras)! :D I'm a big history buff and love historic movies, so I'm going as a cross between something out of A Bridge Too Far and Wild Geese.

Hopefully I'll see some traditional Slovenian masks from our mythology as well, some of which you can come across in Cleaveland today as well. :)

Mardi gras has become a child's day, though they don't disguise as much as when I was a kid, nevertheless today there will be pancakes everywhere for dinner with dry cider (Breton or Normand depending)!
Carnival North and South, imho the best fun and most popular being Dunkirk.

Looks great! Interesting you mention pancakes, here we eat jelly donuts instead and although the holiday is big with children, adults have a great time as well, especially us university students ... I really like the traditional masks, which usually make as much noise as possible with bells and whips to scare away the winter. Some plow the snow (although there wasn't any for the past several years) to make the fields fertile and so on.

Since the beginning of the new century some try to revive the Carnival in Paris, forgotten since before the end of WWII, with masked balls and the Bœuf Gras where an Ox leads the parade (they've kept tradition and name in New Orleans, it existed also with that name in Mobile /Alabama, it also inspired the Rio carnival).
Here the 1907 parade's star.

Tons of chads and serpentine streamers were then exported from Paris. Chads were made with the rests of the paper used to feed silkworms. At the beginning they were made of plaster (that obliged to wear a mask to protect the face). Serpentine streamers were originally used in New York, from useless telegraph ticker tapes, then use crossed the Atlantic thanks to a stock exchange telegraph employee who liaised with Wall Street.

More generally, in France depending of the place there's pancake or donuts for dinner, doughnuts varying with the province.
