What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

JKfU82j.jpg

These just came in the mail the other day. My first Opinels. I just had to have gardening/pruning knife. Carried the smaller no. 8. Had to sand off the hateful Varnish with 60 grit and got some oil and wax on the wood. Feels much better!

Got a chance to sharpen the no. 8 this evening, with a chisel grind 18 degrees on one side only. Threw it on the Edge Pro Apex to get it done.

Any advice for sharpening the big no. 10?

A hard working pair of knives !
True. But they sure were more capable than I called on them to be today. Cutting some baling twine didn't even make them sweat.
My hand pruners got the work load today.
Your pic really shows off the Rogers bone on your Cami jack! Lovely knife, Steve.

Just finally got my membership status back to where I can post pictures so here's a couple.

Nice shop set-up!
When I see flamy maple like that, I start calculating how many Telecaster necks it will make...

Two new stockmans in todays postal. :D
Marbles MR431 Sow Belly with black canvas Micarta covers and D2 blades, and a (large 4.5 inch closed) Rough Ryder RR1740 Classic Carbon Steel. I was going to put the Marbles in my pocket first, but the Spey/Budding blade wants to argue when you open it if the Sheepsfoot blade is closed.
I gotta fix that, even though I don't use that blade much, and it opens just fine if you open the Sheepsfoot first.
So, I guess I'll take the Buck 371 out and put the Rough Ryder in.

Love this pruner, Harry. I’m glad you found a proper use for it besides cutting that unusual Wisconsin pastry!
Come to think of it, have you been able to get it with all the closures?

It’s going to get real hot tomorrow, so I advise you to buckle down and get busy doing nothing. While you’re doing nothing, you can admire that $280 stag on your $28 knife!
Say hi to Nancy for me, ok?

We can still get Kringle . It was an Essential Work . Thanks for the very kind words Jeff . This old Stag Pruner completes the Goal that I had set to get at the Janesville Show . The Goal was to get an original Russell Barlow in good shape , a Repro Russell Barlow , and an Old Stag Pruner . I just told Nancy Hi for you . I hope that it does get Hot tomorrow . We want to get some beans in the ground and heat is good for my Spinal Stenosis . If it rains or gets too hot for this old man , then I will pick up where I left off of Doing Nothing because I still am not done doing it . We do intend to get down to Belvidere in a couple of weeks .
Take care my friend and stay safe .

Took a quick trip up to the mountains. Had to show my son Tragedy Springs. In 1848, 3 Mormons were murdered and burried while scouting ahead of their main party. Carried these two today!
