What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I think I'll keep the BTI Old timer 280OT Barlow, and 858OT stockman in my pocket for another week, although I might swap out the 858OT for a 858OTB sometime during the week.
The Marbles MR7278 "Demo" knife will stay until the BTI Old Timer 23OT Scout/Camp knife gets here. I'll switch from the MR278 to the 23OT when it arrives.
The state should be finished with their inspection by Wednesday. (presuming they show up as anticipated on Monday.) I'll put the BTI Old Timer 25OT two blade slipjoint folding hunter, and a SK Blades Buck 110LT Smoke Jumper, or a standard production 110, back on my belt, when the inspectors depart. :)

I picked out this folder by the late J.M. "Mickey" Maddox to tote today. Mr. Maddox, of Ringgold, GA, learned to make knives from Ron Little and purchased some of Mr. Little's equipment and materials when he passed in 1977. I believe that this knife was made in the 1980's. Mr. Maddox died on December 5, 2015 at 89 years old. Well, I went outside to get a good picture of the knife only to find that we'd just had a cold drizzle and my intended photo prop, an upstanding ash log, was wet. Off came my shirt to protect the knife. Now, I was freezing and my hands were like butterfly wings holding the cell phone/camera. So much for photographic genius.

Edited to correct tree species from oak to ash.

I would also recommend posting an edit regarding Mr. Maddox. He is a friend of mine. He would be disappointed to hear of his passing. Give me a shout if you want to hear of how he is doing. I collect his knives and he, his Son and grandson are all well. :)

Thanks for the real news, and I will be in touch. I got my info from the obits in the Ringgold area.

Classy Dylan

Thank you, Jack!

Thanks for the kind comments on my mystery maker knives, guys. Steve, I agree that the stamp does resemble the Queen stamp of 1984-1990 in an inverse way. Dylan, the fixed blade is fashioned after the mountain sheep hunting knife that the great Gil Hibben made for the famous gun/shooting writer Elmer Keith. Here's another by the same un-named maker that I'm going to tote today (albeit non-Thrifty - - Trapper Thursday, maybe) to continue the mystery:

Thank you for the info, Stuart. It's very interesting and that is yet another looker there - I think I even like that better than the fixed!

Very cool Charlie  :)

Fantastic! I have a thrifty 'Imperial' myself today, but not with that pedigree I'm afraid

Hope everyone is having a good day :) I'm carrying my Hartshead Barlow today, along with a Thrifty Thursday Chinese Imperial Stockman (bought this knife last year, and it's the first time I've carried it), and a new arrival on my belt :)

Thanks so much, Jack!!!
That's very cool as it has both the Imperial and Schrade designations, showing the period when those two old giants merged! Your other two are not thrifty as they are far too grand!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Two dandies' there JJ! Quality definitely above their price range! :)
Thank you very kindly, Ron!!!
Carrying two Northfield SFOs today! :)

Wow, not only far from thrifty, that beauty is a rare and intriguing gem; you never cease to amaze Stu
Thank you JJ. Can you provide a notarized statement that this pair of beauts are 70 to 80 years old? They look like they were just made.:D Beautiful image.
Thank you Harvey, and thanks for the great laugh!!!:D
What an amazing pair of Barlows today; I'll bet that fortune reads "...a deep appreciation of the finest cutlery!" :D:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

These two today. Fontenille Pataud Capuchadou in ebony and LaCombre three-finger fixed blade with a wicked brut de forge and forced patina on M390 steel in homemade micarta.

Friday carry. I got this in a trade, there was quite a bit of blade play. last night after a little liquid courage I wrapped the bolsters in leather and squeezed them a bit in my vise. Voila! No more play but I probably should peen the pins a bit now. At any rate, now I'll feel more comfortable carrying this beaut.
