That's amazing, Stan was certainly a great artisan of the cutlery world; a sad loss...
Thank you very kindly, Jack!!!

The Old Bear should make a worthy slicing partner to your marvelous Hartshead Barlow beauty; a very cool combination!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Stan did everything by hand, he even cut his blades out with a hacksaw! He told me, in his workshop at home, he had a tall chest of drawers behind his bench, and he'd press his back against it, and "I can't half go at it!" He could barely walk, but even at 90, I reckon he could have arm-wrestled men half his age! :D :)

Thanks JJ, I think I've had this knife 2 or 3 years, and this is the first time I've carried it  Took a nice edge :)

What kind of pump, or valve (my best guesses) is it that we see it sitting on? o_O
A refrigeration shut-off valve (I think it was 2-3” or so).

I hope everyone is having a good hump day.

Today I went for the 29 but the lure of the 86 got me. Even though it’s a bit beefy, it’s so hard to resist...

(A much more interesting valve this time)

Totin’ little brother, big brother, and extra big brother today!
Love the big brother little brother! Lately I’ve been trying to get a big and little version of some of my nicer knives. Looks good as a display also.

Very nice knife, and your photo makes me want to go fishing!:)

Beautiful! Really like the slanted bolsters and ebony, very classy!;)

Today is my Bark River Little Creek thanks to the epic @Crazy Canuck "Mystery GAW/Challenge" .

I had carried in the past a few times but not too often as the knife was a bit blunt and I felt intimidated by the convex grind.

I am happy to report that I ain't intimidated no more  :)

Bought the strop and compounds, read up on sharpening convex grinds and went to work.

I am still trying to pick up the jaw of the floor. In my mind there is just no way that a thick spine knife like it should be able to cut so well. It's a laser on paper, cuts it just as well as my hollow ground sodbuster jr that I recently sharpened.

I have little hair left on my arms and legs now  :D and today, while talking to my patients on the phone I was cutting little strips of my notebook paper until I had this big pile on my desk :D

It will be hogging my pocket for a long time to come !

Gracias Mike
