Loving this Case Snowbelly Buffalo Horn !

'Twas a beautiful day today so that means some spring chorin'. I opted to carry a couple of Sheffield-made stalwarts. Rewarded my work with a mug of something cold and a pipe.

(No, I am not a hobbit :D but I'm pretty sure both these blades would be right at home in their pocketses.)

Since it is Saturday , I thought I would carry some Stag . I carried the Northfield 73 in the slip . The $28 Pruner does not need to be carried in a slip . No Brass

Harry
Nothing like brass-free vintage stag. What a treasure!
Took the bass boat barlow out for some fishing today.

It's nice to see the patina on that bass boat Barlow. (I think of mine as 70s motorcycle helmet sparkle)
You do such beautiful work, Rachel.

Stunning work!
Thanks, guys. I'm insufferably proud of it. ;)

It’s a little hard to tell in a bad phone picture, but there is currently a bear hanging out across from the back deck.

How cool is that!
We don’t have any bear around here but these American White Pelicans are pretty cool. The photo is REALLY bad, I took it from my deck, with my phone through binoculars! They were about 400 yards away. They pass through here in the spring and fall and are only around for a short time. They are a beautiful sign of Spring. :)

That’s pretty cool. I had no idea there were pelicans in the mid-west. I thought those were a coastal thing. They’re probably eating all of your fish.:D

Well, we are both named Gary, so, there is that ;) and he does have excellent taste in knives, if I do say so myself :)

and for good measure, this is my daily carry since picking her up in Bradford PA at the Case store, pretty nice one too...

I got my pocket hunter because you kept posting that whittler and it was driving me nuts.... Now your posting it with a lighter I've wanted for a while(another addiction of mine; have "too many" of them just like knives).

Looking at your posts is likely to get expensive if this good taste of yours keeps up! ;) :p

Saturday was my ever present autumn bone friend, and one I borrowed from mom, the copperlock I got her a while(gosh, 15 or 16 years? ) back.

I have borrowed this knife several times over the years. Each time like now, when I'm intrigued by getting a lockback of similar size, or getting a mini copperlock of my own.

Its extremely well built. Its also a lockback... never really my cup of tea.. The action is ok, verry smooth but seems to "hang" just before locking... not gritty... just... resistance. Something all the Case lockbacks I've handled do, but no other brand I've had does. Just their geometry I guess... Yes it bugs me, its annoying to have to pull a little harder just before it locks. Same concept as (stupid)half stops, which is almost as annoying.

Trying to not be bugged by it because I think I want a tribal lock. Or, maybe a mini copperlock since the size fits me better than the tribal. Maybe.

But yeah. Love this knife. I'm just never sure its for me...

Thanks Jack!!!

I always dig your awesome pairing of your Hartshead and the Black Jack; super cool!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks a lot JJ, it's a combination I particularly enjoy carrying :)

Lambsfoot of the week is a rosewood lambsfoot my wife and daughter bought for me while visiting the UK several years ago. I name all my lambsfoot knives - this one is called Union Jack:

You've shown some killer Canoes this week Gary :) One of the things I am most looking forward to, when our lockdown eventually lifts, is going to Barnitt's hardware store! :D Must be a sign of my age!

Stag/Horn Knife of the Week slot in my rotation schedule was actually blank this week. I had left a spot where I could insert a new-to-me stag or horn knife that I hoped I might be able to pick up by this time. But I haven't found one yet, so I inserted a knife that would fit the criterion but that I usually carry in a canoe "slot" - my AG Russell Mohawk Canoe:

Outstanding canoe, I really like this stag, Gary.:):thumbsup:

Nice bone on the Pocket Hunter.

I ended up liking the Mini Copperlock a lot more than I thought I would when I ordered one.

From my experiences, the pre-lock resistance can be dependent on the knife as much as the maker. My 2 Tribal Locks have that additional pre-lock resistance, smooth slightly firm pull, slightly different between the two. My 2 Mini Copperlocks have almost no pre-lock resistance, light smooth pull similar between the two. My Boker Boxer has more pre-lock resistance than the Mini Copperlocks, but less than the Tribal Locks, with light smooth pull. My old Al Mar SERE still has a smooth slightly firm pull from open to lock. A couple of old Bucks I had, had slight pre-lock resistance with slightly different pulls. I think all of my other locking blades over the decades have been liner locks.
