What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

So it has been four or five days since Mom Turkey and her four younguns decided that our backyard was home.
I'm enjoying the Turkey stories, Jeff. :)

Excellent picture, Jack. 🤠

Happy Monday everyone! Made it home late last night from our trip to the coast. Great weekend with family celebrating my niece, who graduated high school and is off to university in the Fall.

Had a very pleasant bonus yesterday afternoon. We got to spend a couple of hours visiting at the waynorth waynorth homestead. Charlie put up with us (and the almost 100 degree heat) in his lovely backyard, where he shared some of his collection and conversation. He sent us back to Calgary with a pretty awesome hat, and for today I just had to put the Harness Jack in the pocket :) Thanks again Charlie!

Peanut-like knife for the past week has been this Case chestnut jigged bone CV Swayback Jack (thanks, Paul):

Three smashing knives Gary :)
Gorgeous grain Jack! 😎👍

Very cool Mike :) Great-looking pair of knives to go with your new hat too :)

Getting ready for the 4th this week. Finishing up the little wall at the back of the beach I started before I jacked up my back, and putting up some lights and fans on the dock and bar. I almost switched from my Jack to the 86 in Micarta for today but, I’ve decided to stick with the Jack. 😊8A68AA46-6448-40C1-9F81-BA0C7145AB50.jpeg

I think you’re taking “EDC” quite literal. I’ve been tempted to get one myself to check out

You’re right about that Jon! I had it for 6 months before I really carried it at all. I don’t know what it is about that knife. It’s not flashy, and I like flashy knives, and it’s not the best knife for every task. It’s just comfortable, I guess. 😊

Coupling up my gifted Boker jack with this 206 barlow. Thanks, John!549AB6DF-5BBE-4976-BA3F-A7AB863C3DF8.jpeg20A86E8D-8FAE-4E6E-B0BA-A4E83981228E.jpeg@JohnDF ~ I was going to tell you, although you probably already know, this Boker jack started life as a TL-29 electrician! I looked up the model number that’s on the tang, 9229 (with the cool tree between the 2s). I guess the 29 should have been a clue!
No wonder I like it! When it’s not in my pocket, it has a cozy home in the cigar box dedicated to TL-29s I have modded. Whoever did the blade delete did an excellent job of putting it back together ~ was it you?

Kutmaster with two main blades.
A trapper in disguise??
Beguiling knife!

Boy howdy... I enjoyed that quite a bit. Thanks for posting it.
And if you like that type of music, here's one of my favorites; The Sons of the San Juaquin
Cool song, John! My daughter played violin for many years, so I enjoyed the plaintive fiddle in the cowboy song; I like the vocal harmonies, too!

One knife, the Charlie Lamb, for "Black Friday"
One knife, the Case/Bose Norfolk, for Rachel's @r8shell "Fancy Friday"
Elegant and enchanting pair!

Presidential today and possibly this weekend. Have a new strop to use this weekend too!

Hail to the Chief!!

About the verbosity, my family usually falls asleep before I finish a story!
😁 😁 😁
(I often get, "Sorry, did you say something? I wasn't really listening" after my stories at home.)

This guy comes along when disc golfing (old pic).

That black Farmer is a beauty!

We've got a fire on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land three-quarters of a mile from the house - 131 acres, forward progress stopped, 20% contained. Got the Expedition packed - go bags, water, snacks, papers, etc.. We're not leaving the house because if we do, we might not be able to get back in. All this said, I've added this Buck 112 to my belt.

It started with a lightning strike when a thunderstorm passed over us yesterday at about 3:45 PM.
Stay safe, ED! Have they been able to control the situation by now?

Carrying these today, two very lovely, and very different clips.View attachment 1589149
Notable pair, Todd! Congrats on that superb GEC 83 (and apologies for not remembering whether I'm repeating myself regarding that lovely lockback)!

Some of you have remarkable geographic features where you live.
We have the shoe tree....
Local customs can seem strange to outsiders! I've certainly never seen anything like that! (Although here in the city where I reside, it's not uncommon to see a pair of shoes dangling from random overhead power lines.)

Toting these two Robeson slicers wearing black composite covers. :)
Dazzling dusky duo, JJ!

Thank you, Gary; I liked seeing your Zorro Barlow again. :)
I carried my GEC 15 from 2015 for Black Friday.

Thanks, Dean; I plan to pick up a Zorro moose pattern with rounded bolsters, too.
Your ebony end-capped 15 is certainly a dignified pocket knife!

Stallion and a Stockyard Whittler

Thank you, Gary. :) I watched that Roy R. clip you posted this morning before I headed to work, a bit of nostalgia put me in a good mood to start the day.

Different whittler in my pocket, along with some ebony for Black Friday. Osage is always one of my favorites and ebony with steel pins and liners is also something I'm fond of. The leather on my John DF made slip is taking on a nice patina with use.

Striking black/orange pairings, Steve & Greg!
Greg, I'm glad you enjoyed that old Roy Rogers link.

Case half whittler for the weekend. Getting on a plane for the first time in 2 years, flying to Vancouver to see family. No checked bags, so had to pick one "carry-on approved" :)

HKgOOmK.jpg
Charming knife, Mike! And I learned something new from your post. I had no idea that Canadian flights had a "carry-on approved" list of knives; it's basically blade < 6 cm, right? I think ALL cutting edges are still banned on US flights (except for checked bags).

Superb photo of your stag HHB, Jack, with a vast, verdant vista in the background!

Up at Lake Tahoe for the day. Beautiful.....water is insanely cold.
...
Taylor, is that little girl with the water wings your daughter who I still think of as your "newborn"?? Man, time flies!

As some of you have seen today, this is fresh outa the tube. My first and at the moment, it’s all rainy and muggy up here so I’m hangin’ in-doors with it close by. This pic is from earlier in the day brightening up the present and I’ll tell ya’s, if you don’t have a 71….
GET ONE, or as many as you can!!
Wondering if the F&F also stands for Fit & Finish… it should!!

A great nite to all:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Congrats on the new Bull Nose, Gus! (And, if I haven't already posted it, congrats on the Canadiens making the Stanley Cup Finals!)

Yes, three dots. Should be a lot easier than if I was born one or two or three decades earlier. The hard part is deciding what I want.
Yeah, I was born in 1951 and find it challenging to "pin down" a birth year knife. I've kind of settled for "This 1936-1952 Imperial is close enough; it's almost certainly at least as old as I am!"

I had my eureka jack with me today. I had a chance to fish in the irrigation pond for a little while today. The conditions were not great, windy and weedy. Luckily I had able to haul in one lunker. 🤣

Glad you could fit in some fishing, and catching, at the pond! I haven't fished since I was a kid, but back in those days, if I caught a fish that was bigger than the hook I caught it on, I considered it a trophy!

Today with Victorinox alox Settler.

That's a highly desirable Alox model, José!!

What a sea monster! LOL

Today it's my trusty HHB:

This is Saturday, right? Whatever:

Your disdain for community standards (Stag Saturday) is appalling, you Texas maverick!!😲o_O:D😁

Time to start breaking this one in...
Yellow Delrin and patina are an aesthetic combination!

Schradurday at my house.

A 175, and a 136 hawkbill, because I intend to go out between the predicted and sorely needed rain showers to deadhead some perennials that are past their “Best By” date.
View attachment 1589678
...
Yikes! I hope my wife doesn't decide to "deadhead" me, now that I'm many years past my "Best By" date!

Only one thing on the agenda today and that’s mowing the yard, and since my yard is the size of a postage stamp, I pretty much have the day off from chores. No surprise for my carry, I’m trying to pick up something different folks, but I’m just really enjoying watching the Jack patina. 😉👍View attachment 1589689
You're getting a prestigious patina on your Texas Jack with its long run as one of your carries, Todd! (And that pen blade on the TJ is one of the best secondary blades of all time IMHO.)
