What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Another nice selection of knives, Gary.;)👍👍
Thanks, José. :)

A Voos Jack, and a Victorinox 111mm. View attachment 1629564View attachment 1629565This Voos, judging by the jigging being a little smoothed, the dye a bit faded, and the chip by the pin ~View attachment 1629566must have been someone’s constant companion. But it had been lovingly cared for by someone who knew how to sharpen without marking up the blades and turning them into slivers. This was the first Voos I bought, and gets the JohnDF JohnDF protective slip.
Your valiant vintage Voos is superb, Jeff, and your frequent posting of big SAKs has almost convinced me I should try one of those monsters!:thumbsup::cool:

She left him a broken, hollowed out shell of the man he used to be.View attachment 1629567
A heart-breaking tale, unfortunately told millions of times! :(

Yesterday we took the boat to a nearby lake for the day, had these with me, but didn’t post, so here ya go! 😄View attachment 1629580
Today, my son is coming home for a dinner with his Grammy (and laundry 😄), might get down to the dock for a few casts, so I’ll have these with me today. Jack, and a gift from @Jon0385, thanks Jon! 😎👍View attachment 1629582
Formidable foursome, Todd!:thumbsup::thumbsup: That white bone Rough Rider is keeping good company!🤓

They were just some assorted leather working tools I had sitting on my workbench.
If I remember correctly, there was a scratch awl (looks like an ice pick), a stitch marker (the little wheel with little teeth), an edge beveler, a shoe hammer, and a mallet.
Thanks for the info on some of your leather tools, John. :)

Happy Sunday to you all.
I'm carrying an old favorite today...
Osage orange is really an attractive wood!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks Gary. While similar to the green handled Old Timer 5OT Bruin, I've never paid much attention to the currently available brown ones.
The currently available brown ones are made in China and use 7cr17 stainless steel, which is similar to, if not a copy of 440A.
The old made in U.S.A. green handled Schrade+ (440A?) ones are also made of stainless steel.
So maybe the biggest difference is simply the color and country of origin.
Thanks for the comparison between your Schrade+ 5OT and the current version from China, Jim.:cool::thumbsup: I think the other 5OT, from B Bloefield , I quoted in my post was a brown Schrade USA (without a "+" on the tang stamp).

Kutmaster in better light.

That's definitely a looker, Jer!:cool::cool: What kind of "Quota Club" is mentioned in the blade etch?

My knife is shrinking...
Started the day with the #73, then moved on to the Indian River Jack, and now I'm using the Case Medium Jack.
If I look at the right-hand side of your photo, it looks like your knife is growing! o_O🤓 Trusty trio!:thumbsup::cool:

This Remington R-151 ended up in my pocket this morning. This was part of the "Heritage 700 Series" made by Bear and Son not too long ago. Very nicely made. It kind of surprised me, because Bear has not had a good reputation around here. But everything is flush, the blade is perfectly centered, and it takes a nice edge. Nice saber grind on it.

Handsome knife, Frank!:thumbsup::cool: What's the handle material, some kind of wood?

Yes, it’s factory.
Thanks for the info about the toothpick and tweezers in that OT trapper.:)

A pair of classics, Steve, one old and one new!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I carried a SAK Alox this morning and switched to this Case stockman this afternoon.

Nice that some places still have some common sense. 🤠
A real pleasure for sure! This entire area is that way (of course its home to Smoky Mountain Knife Works).
That’s an amazing elk; I always keep my eyes open for them when we visit the GSMNP. Nice stainless Delrin covered stockman; good choice for a rainy day.
We couldn’t believe our good luck in finally seeing the elk! Thanks for the compliment.
Old Hunter Old Hunter Old Hunter Old Hunter Looks like a great trip! I didn’t know there were elk that far southeast.
They are Rocky Mountain Elk, re-introduced (I think by Virginia or Kentucky) a couple decades back to replace the long-gone native Eastern Elk. The Elk have prospered in the National Park area - don’t know how big the herds are now.
A beautiful part of the USofA, Bruce!
It really is Jeff, being coastal plain people we love to vacation in the mountains.
I loved the park, wish we would’ve stayed longer. Great pictures Bruce! 😎👍
Thank you sir!

this is the Eustis creek located near the old Eustis mine. When the Eustis mine ceased operation in 1939 it was the deepest copper mine in Canada.

Does the coppery color of the creekbed come from copper ore in the rock?
Nice knife and photo.
totin´this little fella today. Eskilstuna Stålvaru AB
You might say it’s a SAK.

111mm is medium sized. Go for broke and get one of the 130mm Wengers.
This one is the Ranger 55. I carry it quite often, like today, but don’t always show it off.
