When I was about 5 or 6, that's 30 years ago now, my Uncle and mother were dividing up some of the items from my grandfather's estate. They gave me his red handled Victorionox penknife and a Damascene cigarette case that he had brought back from the orient in the 1920's. I still have both. I had many other knives after that, some were given to me by my dad and other family, some were acquired when I was in the scouts and some I bought myself when I was a teenager.
About 10 years ago I saw a friend's collection of customs and remember thinking that they were cool but rather expensive. Actually they didn't interest me all that much because they were all cumbersome fixed blades. You see, ever since I was small I have always had a passion for small and precious things that you could keep in your pocket. Treasures and tools. Hence my never ending fascination with folding knives of all kinds. And now that I have discovered that I can actually MAKE them.....WOW!
