What tutorials/demonstrations do you want to see?

I strongly prefer Aimpoint to Dr Optics (have both) because you can get the 2MOA dot on the Aimpoint and that makes a big difference when only taking headshots. I also have a Volquerson 17M2 upper for the MkIII frame. The 17M2 is VERY explosive and I am really liking this set up, thats where the Leupold scope went.

Like I said.....EXPLOSIVE!!! Exit hole is a full inch wide and there is nothing but squirrel jello in the middle

explodey huh? :) nice.

wasn't aware the DO was over 2MOA. mmm.

looking forward to the new savage mark-ii with this: http://www.rapidreticle.com/22lr3-9x32.htm practice time :)

give the squirrels a courtesy "nut check" :)

Unfortunately Dr Optics only has 4, 6, and 8 MOA available on their micro dot series. It sucks because I like the flat style better but the bigger dot is a killer for me on a small target gun.

Not a fan of the rapid reticle scopes. Since they only work accurately for one Ballistic Coefficient at one speed, chances are the "load" your gun prefers will not be right on with the scope. Not to mention they are mostly second focal plane reticles and that throws in the extra variable of what magnification you are shooting at.

DO should fix that ;) or perhaps their optics can't handle that level of accuracy? hah.

rapid reticle claims they are a primary focal plane to exactly fix the mag variable issue. mmm. are they lying perhaps?

it's a bright optic with a GREAT cross hair and good click stops... got it VERY cheap, so even if all i do is zero at 50 or 100, i'm happy. though in actual use so far, it has seemed "on the money". i'm only using reasonably quality ammo with that particular setup anyway. the fun 22 gets federal bulk candy :)

the real rest is getting a laser range finder, and running that thing around at different distances.

DO makes a GREAT red dot, got one one my .450BM and it is very sharp and has great anti reflective coatings. I called them a couple years ago and asked about getting a smaller dot on a micro. They said that it is sold at a CQ sight and the 8MOA is the most popular since its really meant to get on a large target quickly or as a on-top-of-scope sight for longer range set ups to quickly engage close targets. I understand what they mean but I really wish they made it with a smaller dot.

As far as Rapid Ret goes... Its all preference. I was squad sharpshooter and practice many different types of shooting that make the RR system a poor choice for me. I prefer the Mil system for range estimation and then just dial my elevation with the turrets, holding off for windage, again just preference. I shoot my .22's at 300 yards for months as practice for reading mirage in preparation for the two annual 1000 meter F-class matches that I compete in. My style of shooting includes many more variables than are necessary for the average hunter or target shooter and require those variables to be accounted for repeatably with precision. I don't think that RR would lie about their newer series and think that if they moved the etch to the first focal plane then that would be an awesome improvement to the product. I'm very specific, and set in my ways (due to training) when it comes to firearms and shooting tactics. I really don't want to give the wrong impression about my preferences as what works for me might be completely wrong for you, or anyone else. If I came off as thinking there was anything wrong with RR then I will correct myself now. It's just not for me. Different strokes...

they DO make a super tiny high-G optic that fits the PMR-30 apparently (only one i've seen thus far). would like better than fiber optic, but even so, at 33 feet so far, it easily sits in 3 inch circles, and i could do 4 inches at 25yds. working on reducing that to target 22 levels :)

i'm working on the precision thing. amateur time for me, but i get in the dirt time, and eventually will be doing 200+ yds one hopes :) the new toy is certainly capable of that, or more.

1000 yds. woo :) my range has 600 yds, and i found 200 yds with iron sights to be awesome. can't wait for more.

without training and a shooting coach, i probably won't be doing plates at 1000 yds, but i do enjoy the distance thus far. actually prefer pistol for that though. i was "disturbed" that my High Standard is more accurate than some people i see shooting rifle at the same distances :>

Ha, got to love when the rifle guys get jealous of pistol accuracy. The scary part for me is that those guys are out there during hunting season.
Check this out, think you'll like it. Not a "standard" pistol but...

snerk. nice.

we had these guys shooting 10/22 with a scope at 33 feet (our plinker area), and they were MISSING cans and generally not hitting the 10. my 22 pistol was making a leetle holes a leetle bigger for the most part :) heh. my goal is to keep it inside a dime, though i'll settle for a nickel. well, maybe a quarter some days. seriously wish i had a DOT. Xesse perhaps someday :)

oddly, when doing 9 or .40 i'm not nearly as accurate. it's taking some time to figure that one out. making progress.

recoil my friend... the 9 and 40 both have a bit of recoil compared to the rimfire. During the practice session we NO MATTER HOW GOOD YOU ARE anticipate the recoil, ever so slightly and it allows our groups to open up a little.

Speaking of percision... Here is my shooting/rival partner hitting a one inch target at 200 yards with a 16in AR15

I love my 10/22 ruger, Accuracy... is... phenomenal

Love taking down Jack Rabbits.

10/22's are great guns to build off. Here is my current favorite 10/22. The receiver and trigger group housing are stock. The rest is.....

heh. might as well just buy a receiver and add parts right? :)

the 10/22 with the nordic groups are interesting :) though i prefer the sig522 with a holographic for "fun".

the savage mark-ii TR is supposed to be wicked out of the box, with only room to improve. break in time soon.

i see we're going to have to have "one of those threads"

Well I am new to this forum...so to start it off right I'd like to see/ask two things. 1. Proper Becker throwing technique 2. How to remove hot chicks clothes with a Becker ;).

Just gigging you guys...but the second really would be cool.

That Ruger is a squirrel getter for sure! We never had squirrels in this neighborhood. Not old enough to have large established trees I guess. But it seems they have found there way here now. So...if life gives you squirrels...build traps???

Thanks Flexxx, one of my favorite rimfires right now. I usually do a 10/22 build about once a year. My 2011 build will be lime green and will even have a custom Vq receiver. Not sure is I can still call it a 10/22 though since it technically won't have any original Ruger parts.

also my groups were to the left. chart says "not enough finger"... also all kinds of trigger models from 2.5 lbs to rough and ready 6+ glocks ;) lots of friends == lots of borrowing. i prefer the steyr though :)

that's some kind of sin shooting perfectly good coins :)

oh about percussion? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTbL5elVXrU (which is how i mis-read percision :>)

.22 LR and WMR is my fav stuff. gets the job done :>

well, if it uses a ruger TYPE magazine maybe ;) though i've seen mods that even replace those. hah. i also THINK i recall a BOLT 10/22 mod. hahahah.

"there's a 10/22 in there?" -- "nope"

Bladite- Thats awesome. I have it opened on another window as my background music.

I will stop after this vid I promise. This is my most recent build. Its a .308 that I made for my dad. I was developing a load for it and got one I was happy with so I made a vid with the remaining shots. I had no dope chart and it was 20mph winds. Shooting close range (300 yards) I was very pleased with it for the first day out. Actually sold two Leupolds and replaced with Ziess because of this build

The "bolt" 10/22 mod was done by a guy who lives in Pa. He is a regular contributer to rimfirecentral.com. He was not allowed to hunt with any semi auto rifle (stupid law) so he made a bolt buffer and spring mod so the gun couldn't cycle but would hold after each shot. That way he could still hunt with this favorite rifle.
