What type of wallet do you carry...

That thing rules.

I've been looking for a wallet that's exactly right for me. It never occured to me to make one out of duck tape.
Thank you, Thank you very much

You can find some good instructions on how to build one on the web

Here is the wallet that mine is based on ---click here--- (I made some slight modifications however).

I use a mission wallet and a money clip for small bills. The knife pouch of the wallet holds a small Arc flash light. :)

Orvis bison leather. This one has held up better than any other I have owned. The only problem is that there is never much money in it.

For the last nine months, I've been using a Dopp "Front Getaway pocket Wallet". Got turned on to it in this wallet thread.
Maybe I won't see something new and great that I just have to have in this thread :D

I am a true wallet nut. I may have more in wallets than I do in knives (yeah right). Mind you, alot of the following were gifts:
-Louis Vuitton Taiga Pocket Organizer
-Louis Vuitton monogram 10cc bifold
-Louis Vuitton damier card case
-Louis Vuitton damier key/card case
-Gucci wild boar/canvas card case
-Gucci wild boar/fabric 12cc bifold
-Gucci travelers wallet (makes THE wallet looks like a Jr!)
-Hartmann belting side by side
-Hartmann belting coin wallet
-Coach coin wallet
-Taxi wallet
-THE Wallet (old favorite)
-Filson twill packer
-Orvis Battenkill
-GoldPfeil "scotch flipper"
-Mont Blanc pocket notebook/bill holder
-Tumi Ballistic Trifold
-Chisco Marsupial
-Chris Reeve wallet
-Ghurka alligator hipster
-Stingray bifold

I also have a couple of money clips by Tiffany and Colonel Littleton. Both I highly recommend!
Thanks,
Matt

Good grief Matt! :) Which one is the best of all those?

I used to carry a THE Wallet Jr for the past year or so. Loved the closure and still do but got tired of the bulk and also it was getting dirty. So I picked up a Stingray bifold at the Blade show. Really like it so far. Not totally ideal but it looks like it will wear much better than those nylon types.

My THE was getting dirty and funky too , so I emailed them asking what would be good to clean it with and no less than an hour later I got a reply telling me how to properly clean it , that is true customer service.
Yea it is a tad bulky but man I love this wallet :)

I picked up an all leather packer from Filson's about a month ago and have been very happy with it.

Well, I just ordered off of eBay a Victorinox black wallet, a Columbia leather wallet, and a black Spec Ops jr wallet. From what I've been reading, the Columbia and V-nox will be gathering dust!

I hate buying wallets so I wait until I'm in danger of losing money or credit cards. I get about five years out of a Walmart special. If I spent more than $20.00 on one I'd probably be depressed for months :(

Mr Atwood,
I'd have to say that the best of the best of my group is definately the Louis Vuitton canvas 10 cc bifold. The canvas really is indestructable..and it better damn be for the 275 dollar price tag. Second in my Filson, awesome leather. For 90 bucks, you can't go wrong.

Tumi cordura/leather (#1933). It's fairly compact at 4.5" x 3.5" and has nice calfskin on the inside with a cordura type nylon material on the outside. Been pretty tough over the past several years and the cordura tends to let the wallet breathe........less mildew. Really light too.

Anyone have some tips for water proof wallets? Leather ones dont like swim suits... :D

REI also carries a vinyl waterproof credit card style wallet...I believe they are made by Omniseal.

I have a Dopp Front Getaway Pocket wallet from Beltoutlet.com and love it. It's a clipless front leather front pocket wallet with 3 credit card slot & an extra pocket on one side and an ID window for your driver's license on the other. In the middle, there is a large pocket for currency or receipts. It measures 4.25" x 3" x 0.5". It won't carry a full bifold or trifold's worth of cards and currency. But, if you can leave the cards and things at home that you don't use or need on a daily basis, this is much easier to carry. It really disappears in my front pocket. And I don't mangle my credit cards as I did with my last back pocket wallet. Mine came to $22 with S&H. about half of the Bosca Weekend Wallet's $45 asking price.

Here's a look at the front side

Here's a look at the reverse

Mine's a "Water Buffalo Large Card Case" by Coach.

My theory has always been a minimalist one. Keep it small...carry the least. All I want is something to carry three credit cards (Am/Ex and two Visa), my driver's license, a small handful of business cards, my proof of insurance, and my medical insurance card, and my concealed weapons permit. That's it. No cash (money clip for that). No espresso stand "stamp" cards (or stamp cards from anywhere else). No nothing.

Because of my CWP, I need a "wide" wallet to accommodate. Otherwise, it gets all folded up at the fold (even though it is laminated).
