What Variations Would You Like Kershaw To Add Next?

Along with a Leek 1660TiCB - ti frame with composite blade
How about a Leek 1660TiDAM - ti frame with damascus blade
As a pair these would be a superb addition to any collection.
Leadfoot

Hell Yes! i love the idea of a 1660TiDAM. I WANT ONE (or two, or three...)!!!!

(good thinking leadfoot!)

CPM 110V Blur, color = whatever. green or blue or gray would be fine.
CPM Cru ware would make a good knife steel too. ( vascowear) Joe

I knew you were gonna be on the 110V train Joe.

How could I not be Thomas? Anything that can leave S90V in a trail of dust is going to get some attention. I won't be the only steel junky knocking on your door after word starts really getting out.

We've been hearing rumors of this steel for close to two years now. Now it's official. It exists and you gave us the chemistry of it.

If It's exclusive to Kershaw for a period of time then hopefully Kershaw will take steps to properly maximize it's impact.

As a matter of fact, if you need some volunteer testers.....:D Joe

What is 110V train? Did I miss something?

BTH, There is no top quality, big ZDP189 knife on the market know. Biggest to my knowledge is Delica, but I think there is a need to have something more upscale. Can you make JYD II with ZDP189 and orange-red G10 (textured like ZT302)?

Thanks, Vassili.

I would like to see variant of the ZT 0200 with the following properties:

+ Larger ZT 0200 (with blade length 4") with same blade shape and handle

+ Use CPM-10V blade steel

+ Sealed pivots

+ Button lock WITH safety

+ Glass breaker

+ Convex style serrations

+ Closed back for extra comfort during heavy duty tasks

+ No assisted opening

+ In traditional black colour but also another version in Coyote brown

+ Call it the ZT 0210 (black), ZT211 (Coyote).

This would be my -UBER- dream knife!

Since I made a thread about this , I thought I'd add another shot here.

What about small runs of different colored G10 scales for some of the popular Kershaws , that could be purchased seperatly ?

The Groove , RAM both come to mind.

It is not an exclusive steel Joe, but let's face it, there are only a few manufacturer's (at this point), that will take advantage of it.

RJ martin has made some customs out of it this year.

.

The difficulties in processing the steel, and heat treatment make more than a few manufacturers rule it out. It takes a company like Kershaw that is more interested in bringing their customers the best product they can rather than maximizing profit margins to even consider these monster steels.

These aren't your average boutique runs. there again Kershaw was one of the first to bring us S60V, SG2, CPMD2, CPM154cm,ZDP 189, etc. If anybody can make it work, Kershaw will. Joe

You know the damascus Leek with the framelock? Make that exact knife - everything exactly the same - but with a 3.66 inch blade and everything else scaled up to match.

I figured 3.97 inch was too much to ask for.

Are you going to sell it to general public, eventually?

Thanks, Vassili.

That Columbium/Niobium is weird stuff. It's good to see some new chemistry in steel alloys
It's been around for a while in the steel industry , having been used in nuclear reactors, the aerospace field, and some other high tech applications but I've never heard of it being a main ingredient in a stainless knife steel. A superalloy in every sense of the word.

I'd love to hear R.J. Martins experiences and opinion of it as a knifesteel. This is new ground and a bunch of work will need to be done deciding what heat treats, tempers, quenches, and grinds & angles work best.

It took quite a few makers, heat treaters and continued work with crucible to get S30V steel worked out and bug free and as dependable as it is now. Launching a new steel is no small thing. It sure helps when you have the in house resources and technology Kai/Kershaw has available to it. Joe

I heard in Russian blade forums while ago that Lantanoids (Cerium in particular) in very small amount make iron cast be tough as steel. Something about spherical carbide clouds formations... something way out of my understanding... Hope this is finally come to be used in modern high Carbon steels...

Thanks, Vassili.
