What wallet do you carry?

I second that on Filson...simply the best. Been thinking about one of their billfolds and might just go ahead and get one.

I recently decided to replace my old wallet because the lining came undone and you couldn't see pictures through the plastic picture holders anymore. I was in a hurry and picked up a seemingly decent wallet at Wal-Mart. As it turns out, it's very awkward and is always upside down when I go to open it.Once I get it open, pictures and credit cards leap out of it. :(

Anyone know of a nice quality wallet that has a coin section that closes? Either by zipper or push button?
Check out Eagle Creek. These are not classy leather, but the Cordura that they are made from is sturdy. The model that I have isn't made anymore, but it has held up very well over the years. I also bought a backup before they were discontinued. It has a zippered coin pocket that runs across the outside. This was one of the selling points for me, since I don't like having a pocket full of loose change. Try searching for similar models.

Another that looks nice, but which I haven't tried, is this from Herrington.

After 12 years with a Bosca I've just replaced it with a THE JR from Spec-Ops.

Now if I just had some money to put in it.:grumpy:

I can't remember when I bought mine, but I think I've had it for about 1.5 years.

After being carried for 5 days each week, the leather has started to wear on the sides and back. The surface is mostly gone in spots. The stitching is all intact and the zipper still works fine. However, I avoid overstuffing it and stressing the stitching or zipper.

As far as size goes, it is perfect for minitools and keychain knives, but you have to add a fob to pull them out. It also will fit many thin, mid-sized knives. Do a forum search and you will find more discussion on knives that work well with it.

Overall, a good product. Certainly helps me stay organized. I plan to buy another if this one gives out.

I carry the Maxpedition PUG wallet in black, it was hard to get used to the thickness at first, but I am used to it now. I did cut off the keyper attachment inside, which thinned it down just a bit, and I love the belt loops, so if I am ever in a bad place I can just strap it on my belt, and not worry about pick pockets..

I have "The Wallet" (2) coming to me by UPS tomorrow. From the store that sponsors this site. I'll report back with my reactions.

I carry a black "T.H.E. Wallet" from Spec-Ops...It fits perfectly in the back pocket of my Levi jeans and holds everything, INCLUDING the kitchen sink.:).

I use the Mission wallet which I bought about a month or so ago. It doesn't fit any of my spyderco knives that well, but my calypso jr can squeeze in there. The camillus edc fits in nicely as does the benchmade monochrome. The super tinker is too fat to fit in withouting stretching the leather more than I want it stretched. Anyway, a fairly compact useful wallet. Simple and nice looking at the same time which I like.

I've been carrying the taxi wallets for years, now. Ever since, I don't have drawers full of change to deal with, as the built-in change purse allows for fast transactions with coins. I have no need for coin rollers and such.

Timberland brown leather wallet that I've had for too long. Just ordered a brown Mission Wallet yesterday -- though if it's too small, as some here have said, it'll become a mini gear-bag while I then order T.H.E. Wallet.

I just received my Dopp Front Getaway Pocket wallet from Beltoutlet.com and love it. It's a clipless front leather front pocket wallet with 3 credit card slot & an extra pocket on one side and an ID window for your driver's license on the other. In the middle, there is a large pocket for currency or receipts. It measures 4.25" x 3" x 0.5". It won't carry a full bifold or trifold's worth of cards and currency. But, if you can leave the cards and things at home that you don't use or need on a daily basis, this is much easier to carry. It really disappears in my front pocket. And I don't mangle my credit cards as I did with my last back pocket wallet. Mine came to $22 with S&H. about half of the Bosca Weekend Wallet's $45 asking price.

I will attest to the quality and bargan the DOPP offers. Got mine over a year ago and it has changed my life...well almost :)

Front pocket wallets are the way to go--comfortable and secure, your ass will thank you. If you *need* to carry a lot of stuff around, than I think a bag is the way to go.

I have used my mission wallet for almost 2 years of HARD use. I use a small sebenza of one variation or another in it and find it very usefull. For a small wallett it does alot! I persoanlly kill alot of things that I wear or carry- especially if I sit on them for long periods while operating equipment but this has held up great.

Mission wallet. I've only had mine for about a month, so far I like it. I'm not too sure on durability, the leather seems a little thin. My next wallet will be stingray.

Dave,

On the issue of front vs back pocket wallets, I strongly concur. Switching from back to front has reduced my risk of pickpocketing, eliminating cracked credit cards, and helped my back quite frankly. I had a back pocket wallet for 20 years. Never again.

That's the Taxi wallet. I don't think it's all that small (as the catalog says) but it is a nice wallet and the rounded edges do make it seem smaller in the pocket. I've carried mine for almost 5 years and it's still going strong.

I carry a single fold Coach that's due for replacement any time. It seems 10 years is the average lifespan for my wallets.

Big Deeeeeeeeeeeeee,
I didn't even know that the SpecOps THE Jr was out yet!!  What you think about it? Compared to it's bigger bro? I really like the large version...is the small version too small?
Thanks,
Matt

Compared to my old Bosca this thing still seems huge to me. I can't imagine anyone finding it too small unless you normally carry around your passport. I'll have to wait about 12 years to see if it holds up as well as italian leather. :)
