This should be a sticky. Great info. I love how easily Strider bashing comes out of the wood work with threads like these.

Now where is that squirrel???

What was the "bashing?" It's not like there is no truth at all to the negativity around SKI's reputation. To the contrary, it's very well earned.

perhaps, but apparently you see it as your mission to educate the rest of us, since the only time you post is in strider threads.

the entire knife buying world owes you.

You're exaggerating of course. My last handful of posts were about the colors that hard plastic water bottles come in and their effects, if any, blocking UV radiation. Unless Strider has been appending his purloined surname to such products then I am not only posting in threads about the kings of phony baloney.

I post about SKI when I randomly encounter legitimate criticism of their "colorful" biographies termed as bashing or somehow characterized as "out of bounds" commentary by the fans. Continual correction of the record about "Strider's origin story" is required when there is clique of people out there trying their level best to sugar coat it or shout it down.

It's totally sick that some two plus years after the definitive hammer fell on the debate as to whether the dynamic duo were real super spooks or total resume fakes that there are still folks out there with a reflexive need to defend the indefensible.

fine, 12 of your 28 posts since you joined. again, we all thank you.

i suppose we should also not do business with those who do business with ski?

and i'm not defending anyone. and i'm also not of the opinion that most transgressions cannot be forgiven.

Forgiveness requires repentance. Did I miss that coming to Jesus moment by Burger & Poland?

I think you'd find that the posts I have on this topic only stem from "General," unless threads were moved by moderators. I tend to read Strider threads in General, I don't go out of my way to hunt them up. I have chimed in on twelve or fewer of these threads across three years of mostly lurking and you're getting your hackles up about it?

If you're not into defending them, then what's your issue with people criticizing the unrepentant?

ironic, since your hackles have been up far longer than you claim are mine. my issue is not with criticism. it is with your incessant need to post the same thing, over and over.

how about you answer the previous question.

Would this be the question you'd like answered?

In that case, I have never championed any boycott of either SKI, their dealer network, subcontractors, compensated SHOT show personalities, lawyers, or anyone else associated with them.

I am all for buyers being informed as to the hows and whys SKI became famous, or more to the point, infamous.

It may sound repetitive, but wouldn't you know, there are people out there repeatedly insisting that Burger & Poland's backgrounds are irrelevant, "bashing," or worse.

It does get repetitive reminding every lurker, which is how I first came across this whole mess, that there was an actual real life firestorm where at first there was only internet smoke.

I've owned 5 Strider folders and never had any issues that required warranty service. One knife had an uneven grind, but that was a quick easy sharpening fix.

Mr. American Puukko has never owned a Strider, and therefore, never dealt with their Customer Service. Yet he seems to be the authority on all things Strider, and he loves to throw in his Strider .02

Ignore the trolls

ok, i have no problem with that. crusade on, sir. however, if you do not favor boycott, what is it you do hope to accomplish? you can't make statements, regardless of whether true or not, and not accept any responsibility for the outcome.

maybe the history is relevant, maybe not. that will depend on the individual. i'm not championing ski, nor do i really care if people do or do not purchase their products.

i've been here a bit, and i've seen all the threads and all the info, and all the rehashing of same.

apologies for previous confrontational tone.

Mr. American Puukko has never played minute one of Major League Baseball either. However, he does know when a guy claiming he "almost made it to the Show" is lying. The guy in question didn't know what the Rule 5 Draft is, something every young long term minor league prospect from AA and AAA ball not on a MLB club's 40 man active roster for that year would follow in the hot stove season with keen interest from 1959 onward because being drafted out of obscurity by a different organization could represent their big break. He should have known what Rule 5 was in furtherance of his facade as a highly experienced "near miss."

Would I let my son attend a baseball camp instructed by such an individual?

I didn't. The "former player" looked like he knew what he was doing, and talked a good yarn, but he was living the lie and had no trustworthyness for it.

How that might apply to SKI is left for the reader to decide. I am sure that the "coach" had his fans and defenders too.

Bottom line: You've got no experience with SKI, at all. This thread was about SKI Customer Service. You're trying to derail it, and spin it in a different direction. You're trolling. Cut it out.

+1 to that.

These posts were removed from a thread requesting help contacting Strider customer service.

They were a serious distraction, which I'm sorry I didn't see in time to stop.

The good news is, the real advice given got the knife off to Strider, repaired, and returned to the original poster's satisfaction.
