What Was the First GOOD FOLDER You Got?

Buck 110 about 30 years ago. Then a Sypderco Delica first gen about 15-17 years ago. I carried it for 11 years, great knife.

First knife I bought for myself was a Craftsman single bladed linerlock which I now know is was made by Schrade and a clone to the Old Timer 180T. Very nice and I wish I had not misplaced it. About 10 years later I bought a Camillus Lockback, I believe refered to as #3 size and has served me very well the past 20 years. About 10 years ago I purchased an AL MAR Eagle Talon with micarta handles from a knife dealer friend of mine that had gotten it in a trade and had not found anyone to buy it at the last year's worth of gunshows he had setup at, and I guess that this would be considered by many here as my first best knife.

The first good folder I ever had was, a Pacific Cutlery Jody Samsom "Weehawk lockback". It was the small one with nickel silver bolsters and pins. She had black micarta like scales and felt so good in the first two fingers of my hand. I bought her at a mall knife shop called Cutlery world in the late 80's in High School. I gave her to a friend of mine when I decided to jump out of planes and be a hero for a living. He gave it back to me years later and I lost it somewhere in Africa.
I saw one on a site going for $425.00 tempted but not that tempted. I figure I will find another one some day. I really loved that little knife.

First Knife I purchased- Northwest territory 110 Knock Off with sheath from K-mart at about age 9

First Quality Knife-Schrade Beast at True Value hard ware store when i was about 10-11 years old.....

I had a Boy Scout knife as a child - lost many moves ago. I got pen knives next - someone else always wanted them. Then, SAKs... followed by my longtime favorite - a Buck 110. I still have the SAKs and the 301 I got next - they and the 301 were the first to achieve sharpness again via my new Spydie Sharpmaker last summer. The 301 was a favorite whittler - and blood letter! I still have my second 110 - still sharp after years of hikes. It would be hard to decide, but I suppose that 301 was my first great folder - because I still have it. It doesn't beat a 110 by much.

The first "good" (as in somewhat expensive) knife I got was a
Spyderco Chinook II in VG-10 with G-10 handles.

I eventually sold that one to a friend and got a Benchmade 551
Griptilian in 154CM that was okay.

Now I have a Benchmade 710 in D2 with G-10 handles, and can
finally say that I have what I feel to be a "good" knife that fits
my hands, and that I'm comfortable using for all sorts of tasks.

My grandfather had a saying when it came to things he really liked,
"It feels like a 20 year keeper."
The 710 feels like a "20 year" knife to me.

Will it be the last one I ever buy?
No, down the road, I'll probably get a Sebenza or a Spydie Military (or both:D).
Will I ever get rid of the 710?
No, it's my "20 year knife" :)

Cheers
Dave

SOG Flash II was the first knife i purchased
Spyderco Manix was the first knife i purchased that i felt was built with great quality

In the late 60's I got a Buck 110. I never really liked the squared shape of the grip back then. When I found the Schrade LB-7, I bought one of those. It had a steel pivot pin (I loved overbuilt even back then) and all of the handles corners were nicely rounded. That was my main carry folder, excluding all of my different SAK's until I got one of the one of the first Spyderco Police models to be released back in the 80's.

It was a Puma in 110 style, with about 3.5" blade. Carried it over eight years.

My first Great folder was and is a Spyderco Endura 4 waved. It's also my username and EDC. Unlike the last poster, I have only carried it for 8 days. Will carry it for at least 8 years and own it for 80...

i had a bunch of knives as a kid. SAKs, pen knives, a Buck- not sure what model, and a big one with a metal frame... bought a pretty nice newer Buck about 10 years ago, then had a decent Gerber given to me; it wsa stolen when someone broke into my car... other than that i lost or gave 'em all away...

the first good knife i bought was a Kershaw Scallion in '01, and i still carry it. bought a couple CRKT M16s; one spear point, one tanto. gave the tanto to a chick. still have the spear point, but i don't carry it. it's a Zytel version, and it doesn't hold a candle to my brother's older Aluminum framed M16; blade play and such, though it's sharp as all hell... probably the sharpest knife i own, but that's because it doesn't get used.

i had a Delica for a while, but lost it. loved it. it took the Scallion out of rotation...

recently bought a BM556...
