What Was the First GOOD FOLDER You Got?

My first? Why the ol' Buck 110, of course. Second best christmas present ever for a little Alaskan boy. Next was a Gerber LST Magnum, about 8 years later. I loved that one too.

Boker top lock II, I alos took a nice chunk out of my thumb, not knowign what a real sharp knife was...I have the scar to remind me not to forget I like sharp knives, lol...

Gerber PARABELLUM which came with a Bianchi sheath that allowed the knife to be carried either open or closed.
Now I EDC either a Emerson CQC7 or a Bradley Alias.
I'd like to also carry my Benchmade 710 or Al Mar SERE 2K (best of the bunch) but I don't want to scratch 'em.

My first good folder was a home made auto that I got as a gift, it wasn't a half ass job, had that custom feel to it. Had it for two years till I broke it. But i guess auto's don't count here, the next good thing was a leatherman wave, but thats multi tool that just happens to have 3 blades, so not really whats asked here. Hmmm... the best one I have is a kershaw splinter, I bought in in big five, for around 30 bucks (it was like 60% off) now its my everyday carry, and is very useful in all daily little tasks, great little knife (but I can't imagine using one for self defense, it just doesn't feel right, its too civil, i don't know how else to say it.)

First one:

CRKT M-16 13-LE

Payed myself, nope did not have to save for it. Was 18. Am 25. Still have it, but need a new one now, destroyed the blade finally, plus "it's mah birfday" :D

Thinking of a Specwar B.

As for fixed blades... Chris Reeve aviator, never used just carried... :jerkit:, Strömeng "soldat 2000" knife (I'm on my second one now), and Fällkniven G1.

Was Custom by WT Fuller, known by "One Hander" . That is when the collection bug really hit me. Then after a few by him, One by Bob Cargill. Since then my bank account has gone all down hill.:D

my first good folder was a barlow diamond edge with sawcut bone handles. it came up missing one day out of my room along with numerous other items and i figure my older brother nabbed it.

Mine was the Spyderco delica in the ats 55 version , Still a very good knife and was used alot by me....I bought mine at a sporting goods store ,I knew nothing about them. The owner said all yeah they are all we buy , that and certain buck models..

The classic Buck 110. Had it since the late 70's. Now put away for personal reasons.

Ditto on the Buck 110. I think the 110 was a right of passage for many of us 50 something collectors. Come to think of it, I am still collecting Buck 110s'.

I had a Chicago Cutlery copy of a Buck 110 all though high school. It was a good knife. That was over 20 years ago. Then my father gave me a Gerber Bolt Action folder when I went to college - my first knife that wasn't wood and steel - except for the blade, it was almost all plastic, or whatever that thing's made from. Funny, back then metal detectors weren't what they are now and during college, on an archeology trip, I carried it through British and Israeli airport security many times without a problem. Never set off the detectors.

First good folder? Too long ago, probably a 110. Funny thing is, I was kind of sick of 110s and pretty much got out of folders altogether for a long time. The only folder that I have consistently had through the years is/was a SAK. I have recently renewed my interest in knives and have a new found appreciation for the 110. But, to tell the truth, a little folder from Walmart caught my eye a while back and here I am again, lol. Kershaw Storm 2. That little Kershaw may be old news/nothing much to some of you, but I was out of the knife loop for a long time. To see a solid, inexpensive little knife with attractive styling/enjoyable ergonomics/decent steel really intrigued me. I'd have to say that this little Kershaw is the first good folder that I have had for many years. I have other knives but I peeled the potatoes tonight with that Storm, just for an excuse to use it.:D

Been lurking for a while, but I had to toss in for this one.
First was a old timer LB1 1.5 inch lock back my dad bought for me when I was four. the deal was I couldn't have it until I was as tall as the display case, so I think I actually "got" the knife when I was 12. carried it, lost it, found it, stored it, learned to sharpen on it. still have it, and I'm 22. best knife I own, for that reason alone. it doesn't get carried except on special occasions, mostly when I am forced to not carry my leatherman pulse and one of my bigger folders. but for quality, until a couple of years ago, it was hands down the best quality knife I owned. now it ranks slightly lower, although I'm sure that could be debated. there is something about it though, it's such a polite knife, not like my SOG trident or pentagon e2 (dubbed the pocket sword by friends). thinking about it, i think the hold of the tacticools is weakening, might have to go get a 110. this could be bad for the wallet.

My first good and quality folders are Buck 110 and SAK camper. Still using the SAK everyday and now the 110 is replaced (temp only) by my Gerber Gator in 154cm. Although, I'm feeling the itch to buy the alaskan 110 model from Cabelas.

My first good folder was a Spyderco Endura (with the plastic clip, remember that?) with the full serrated blade.
I still have it and still use it for moderatley rough cutting tasks: best investment ever!

SoG Trident, and it has taken a beating but held up quite well, it was actually my 2nd knife. First was a gerber I beat the crap out of constantly, didn't hold up so well. Looks terrible, like a grinder ate it. Now I've worked my way up to BM 913, Spyderco ZDP Endura, Microtech Mini Urban socom. Who knows what I'll get next. Thankfully It didn't take me long to buy good quality knives.
