I work with a property manager and she was struggling to open a clam pack for one of those door knob packages. She found a file and tried to use it to pierce the thing somehow (it was the sharpest thing around). I saw here struggling and pulled out the Mini Manix, and she looked at me with a look of relief and said: "You're so cool" and handed the clam pack to me to deanimate.

What was your last positive experience?

Some friends saw me cut open a package on a day when I was carrying this Queen #49 Amber Carved Bone Stag Stockman.

They commented on how nice the handles were.

I pulled out my big Calypso to cut some weed barrier fabric at a friend's house Saturday. When he saw it gliding through the polypropelene fabric he just said "Whoa. Now that's sharp!"

When I started to use my stainless damascus carving knife [agrussell] for Thanksgiving turkey people said 'ooh, that's nice , where did you get that ?'

Great topic for a thread! (Too many "What scared the sheeple where you work?" threads IMHO)

I ALWAYS get a positive response, from males and females, when I pull out one of my little Todd Davison custom slips. Especially the Gold Pearl handled one. Small steps, small steps....:)

I carry and use small knives at the office. The people II woork wiith don't express any fear of them and are always thankful when I open or cut something for them. My Victorinix Classic was borrowed regularly when we all had to go to a different city together and live out of suitcases for 5 weeks.

Not everyone out there's a sheeple.

P.S. A few weeks ago I left an Opinel No. 5 on a plate in the kitchen to cut cheese. A co-worker tried to wipe it off with a paper towel. It went right through the towel and sliced her finger. She blamed herself and there's no hard feelings or concerns about knives. She was impressed how sharp iot was though!

I suppose it has a lot to do with the kind of community where you live and where you work, but I've always gotten positive remarks about my knives -- mostly people I've helped out, especially women surprisingly enough -- and nothing really negative I recall. Occasionally I get a "Wow!" or "Man, that's a pigsticker!" when I pull out a large folder, but it's still in a positive way. I suspect how you handle yourself and just how you choose to use a knife is a factor in what kind of reactions you get, too.

Friends and family always drool over the Shuns (I got a magnet strip so they can stay out on display). The other day I was showing my brother in law my new Skirmish and he got this happy little smile and said "it feels so good in your hand!" Mostly, I keep the folder hidden from the sheeple, though, they are so squeemish!

A friend at work was trying to cut through some very thick nylon safety lanyards He was having trouble with his dull SAK. His first reaction was to ask "where is Jason?" Jason would be me......I walked in and he asked "may I?" I handed him my Lone Wolf City Knife which effortlessly sliced through the lanyard. He handed my knife back and thanked me. I then asked for his SAK so I could sharped it.

My humble collection of USA-Schrade Old Timers were on display at a local museum this summer. No one talked to me personally, but supposedly it was a popular display and received many positive comments.

i have all my stuff shipped to a mailbox center (not usps postal box). the guy and girl who work there noticed many of my boxes came from busse combat.

one particularly LARGE box arrived, and they asked what i had received.

i pulled out my new busse ak-47. no negative comments, both were somewhat awed by its size. the girl actually said it was beautiful!!

That's because IT IS:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

When around friends and family if anyone needs a sharp knife they ask where is Jim? When I hand them a knife they handle it as if it were TNT.

I think this counts. My girlfriend was out last week picking roses. She looked at me and said that it would've been a lot easier if she had a knife. I then proceeded to remind her that I gave her a Spyderco Jester, but she lost it. She said it isn't lost, it's in our house "somewhere".

I gave my brother a SS Delica. He gets compliments all the time from the people in his class about the knife--he is in a teachers program strangly enough heh.

I have got a fair amount of good coments on my knives being handy and a lot of people really find them useful--friends and family
