What was the last POSITIVE remark someone had about your blade?

Met my buddy and one of his friends, and we rode up to one of my buddys buddys shops. Still with me? Anyway, we were showing off knives, and I pulled out my David Farmer EDC, and mentioned to the guy, who said he was going off on a bear hunt, "You could skin a bear with this." He replied, "You could skin all the bears up there with this! Thats one helluva knife, all these guys head out, with huge knives, they only need one about this size".

The good thing about being in scouts and a venture crew is that you don't get that many negative comments about your knives, about the worst i have gotten is "that is a little big dont you think" on my CS recon1 and Scimitar, which is understandable. At crew last week we needed to cut some rope, one of the kids borrowed my minygrip and said, "Damn i have never seen anything so sharp, you cant even see the edge."

But one of my favorite reations was on a crew campout last year when one of the girls saw my knife(dont remember which one, might have been the grip) and said "Damn that is a cool knife. O crap i cant believe i said that about a knife."

I lent out my Benchmade rescue hook to my boss today at work (I work with mail) and she was suprised to see how much easier it was to use on the newspaper straps than the issued razor blade she uses...She knew I was a knife guy as I already sharpened her kitchen cutlery for her, lol, but she had no idea how eqippped I was, lol...She liked it so much she ordered 4 of them for the office for everyone to use!!! SOOOOO, now I can keep my home and use the office ones...and keep mine nice and sharp...Maybe Ill give it to a friend to keep in his or her console in case of an emergency...

Not so much complimenting the knife itself, my friend looked for me when he needed some cutouts for his architecture project.

I offered him the knife, but he said, "You should probably do it, you are much better with a knife than I am."

I'll admit I appreciated that.

My Manix CE is my favorite knife. After the news of the discontinuation came in, I ordered a second one off of NGK. It arrived today, and I was showing it to a friend of mine when he remarked "Seriously... what're the chances that you'll ever break one of them and need the second? That thing's a rock."

My daughter's high school raises money manning a concession booth at Qualcomm Stadium during Chargers games. (A good way to raise money but a whale of a lot of work.) Knives are forbidden in the stadium, but I still slip in my Vic Classic with me so we can cut open boxes of supplies, etc. The last game one of the boys on the crew asked to borrow my knife at the beginning of the day. "I knew you would have one. You always do."

I'd like to add that the Vic Classic does a great job cutting plastic, cardboard, and sealing tape. I only have to sharpen it every couple of games and we use the heck out of the silly thing. It's cheap enough so that if it gets confiscated I'm not out much. And it's so tiny that no one will consider that I'm carrying a weapon. But it really gets the job done on those boxes.

My Rainbow Leek certainly gets a lot of positive attention. They just haven't ever seen anything like it. It also seems to be the sharpest knife anybody has ever seen. EVERY time somebody uses it I get to hear "Holy $hit that thing is sharp!".

Last month some friends and I were carving pumpkins for Halloween and one friend was trying to do some really intricate stuff with this huge carving knife. I let him use my tiny little CRKT Ichi and again nobody could believe how sharp it was and how detailed he could cut because of that and its size.

I'm definitely "the knife guy" my friends know that I ALWAYS have a knife with me. It's funny because once in a while somebody will say "why do you always carry one around? I don't and I never need one."

"That's cause I'm always around :D"

Was on a trip visiting relatives and one morning the brother in law was making breakfast when he reaches for something that vaguely resembled a knife. "Here Hans, why don't you give this a try?" and handed him my 732 Ares to open some packages. After the blade glides through the first plastic envelope he was laughing and going on about how sharp it was, great build and how he wished his Dad was alive (his Dad had a fondness for a blade) to see my knife for about a minute. Kinda liked that moment.

I showed a pink Kershaw Chive to my eldest daughter.

"Oh Daddy, that nice! Would you mind if...."

Her new EDC!!
