Just curious to see what made people get into this hobby. Mine was a Tac-Force piece of crap..

A Smith & Wesson CK108 "24/7" lockback folder. I still use it occasionally when I don't want to scruff up my SanRenMus or Enlans, or when I feel like using a lockback folder.

Knock off swiss army from boys life mag when I was 9 or 10. Still remember filling out that coupon ,sending it in with the 7$ I made from cleaning yards. Then waiting for what seemed like forever for it. Haha good times

I was quite young and I got an older mate to buy it for me from the army surplus guy at the local markets. The knife was a stainless steel handled liner lock called a 'mighty mouse'. Was quite nice, not sure what happened to it. I've subsequently googled but couldn't find anything about a mighty mouse knife online.

My second one was like this, purchased at the same place when I was a few years older to take sailing.

When I was 8, my uncle gave me a knife with a handle shaped like a bowling pin. Pretty cool little thing. Too bad I lost it before the summer was out, but I can say is that the only reason it got lost was because I was using it. Anyway back then most men carried knives so it was a big thing to me.

This 1974 Camillus Demo knife.

My Grandpa gave it to me when I was 5 and the knife obsession is still going 33 years later. I inherited the Colonial Barlow after he passed away.

Mine was a random flea market 'tactical' folding knife with a SWAT logo on the blade and a seatbelt cutter on the handle that my cousin gave me. Broke in about 2 weeks, but it was the knife that got me into this hobby/addiction.

The title of this thread and the OP are two different questions. First knife was a Vic SAK of course. Knife that brought me to the hobby was a SOG Flash II.

First knife would be a Buck Vanguard my dad got me from a local sporting store. What really got me into the hobby is the Ontario Rat 1

My Dad gave me a Case Barlow for my 1st knife.

I found this website searching for a new field dressing knife. I guess it wasn't a particular knife that started my illness --it was Bladeforums that gave me a kick in the pants!

A Case Barlow is the first knife I bought myself out of HS.

My first GOOD knife was a Buck 110 in the mid 70's.

I had "carnival" knives before that.

My first knife was a victorinox ranger when I was 10. Got into knives much later again, at 22 or so. First quality knife was a Leatherman Crater knife. I didnt know knifr brands but I knew they made good Multitools so I picked that. Its a great work knife. Then once I got brand aware I grabbed a Delica and its grown from there.

I had several knives for decades before I got into knives beyond just tools. My very first knife was some Swiss Army variant I had a kid. What became of that one I have no idea. The first folding knife I ever bought for myself was a Buck 110 that I needed for work, back in 1979. It sat mostly forgotten in a toolbox for 20 years or more. It wasn't until 2012 when I picked up a few assorted Kershaw and Boker knives on a whim that I developed an interest beyond just having tools. Seems like my first foray into it was a Kershaw Blur and a Boker KeyCom.

My dad gave me my first knife at 7yrs around '72. It was one of his Case two blades, don't know the model. Got hooked on Barlows and Texas Toothpicks for the next few years.
