What was your gateway knife?

Before I thought spending over $30-$50 on a knife was just stupid. Thinking why by a emerson when you can get a kershaw emerson foe a tenth of the price depending on model. But my gateway knife was when I lost my kershaw kryo and then bought a blue delica then lost that and i just went crazy after I bought the spyderco.. I was into guns first and once I did every possible upgrade i could do including appearance mods I found a dead end with nothing to blow money on..... Then production folders (individual) came into my life and now I'm starting to peak into the custom section :/ what did it for you?
 
Spyderco Sage 1. My first knife with S30V and beautiful to boot. Still have it and consider it my dress knife, but it opened Pandora's box for me and now I have too many to carry. I never thought I'd ever in my life spend over $100 on a knife but here I am with my first sebenza under the tree. Oh the money this forum has cost me [emoji12]
 
The CRKT m21... I wanted a big ish folder for work (lawn care/landscaping)... Then I decided I wanted to carry a knife all the time, got some other crkt stuff, then wanted a sub 3" blade with a wave (like you can wave the m21) and I got an Emerson cqc14... Now I have 4 Emerson's, a southern Grind bad monkey, and more.
 
I still think $100 is a lot for a knife. Been buying and using knives for a long time (since I was in elementary school).

I think we did this topic about two weeks ago?

Gerber Mk 1 way back in 1979 when they were still made from L6.
 
My brother bought a benchmade aphid, I bought some crappie smith and Wesson. I fondled his for a while and realized that mine was a p.o.s. I went to a gun show and found a griptilian, so I bought it and fondled it. 20 mins later I bought another grip! After that it was all down hill :)
 
Kershaw Scallion, I had a Gerber Gator before it but never carried it outside of camping. The Scallion was the first nice knife I ever really carried and used regularly. I think I had 3 of them before moving onto other models.
 
It was the Benchmade 401 Panther with the weehawk blade (back in the early 90's). Soon after, it was the Benchmade 970 Emerson CQC-7, and the legendary AFCK.
 
Spyderco caly 3 zdp 189. The guy who sold it to me even warned me I was gonna get hooked.
 
BM Griptillian. Purchased 8 years ago.. and it's still in my pocket as i type this. New knives have come and gone since then but damn i still love my grip.
 
Buck/Strider 880. My dad bought it for me one Christmas. Unfortunately, it got lost to the Sands of time and then I picked up a Kershaw Tyrade. It was all downhill from there.
