What was your gateway knife?

Started on old SOG bowies then I needed a folder. That led me on a multi thousands of dollars roller coaster from low end productions to overly expensive customs to land right back in the middle at mid-high end productions. I think I am set though, for now.
 
Started with a Kershaw then Spyderco Delica ZDP then the PM2 set the hook for exploring higher quality folders.
 
I remember looking up reviews on the $20 high end :) smith and Wessons. Wow I didn't think anyone replied to this thread I checked it like three times with no posts and now it's 2 pages! Anyone know when the kyomi is comin out?
 
Benchmade AFCK. Gave it to my dad to replace the one he lost while riding his 4 wheeler. Since they don't make them anymore, I've spent A LOT of money finding something I like to replace it... I'm settled on my Emersons
