What watch do you wear in a survival setting?

For me, I'm using my trusted Timex Iron Man.

It's a good, cheap basic watch. I don't know what else to get that would help in an outdoor scenario.

I had Timex Ironman Triathalon Watches with the original "Indiglo" throughout the mid to late 1980s. They even ripped off the song from Sabbath and Warner Bros. made them cease and desist! :D

Stainless Steel body Luminox with tritium markings, currently in an old Eagle "Commando" watchband now. Every day wear watch is currently a Casio G-Shock Solar/Atomic with the Luminox as a backup. Had Luminox on every day for years though, awesome watch!

In the early to mid-90s I went to Victorinox wristwatches then on to Casio G-Shocks, then to Luminox for years...now...Casio again.

I wear whatever watch happens to be on my wrist at the moment when I find myself needing to survive. But if the survival situation is future-oriented and I am able to put on a specific watch for the scenario, I'll probably slap on the G-Shock Solar Atomic.

the best watch i have ever owned is the cheapest sports watch available at wal-mart. i think it cost me 7 dollars.

it has survived through numerous dish washings, every day wear, i even stomped it into several pieces once because it was set to chime every hour and no one could figure out how to disable the setting. i put it back together and it no longer chimes and is still going strong.

Ooh. My big failing. I don't wear a watch. Absolutely hate them. Probably because I work in construction. My wife had to be a complete bitch for years to get me to wear a wedding band. Early in my career I had a guy have his finger ripped off 'cos he got his wedding band caught on a bracket when it was dropped. No noise, nothing. It just dropped on the floor and we stood looking at it. So I was hard pressed to be convinced to wear a wedding band. A watch is very similar. Not all straps will break away. Some will sooner break or rip off your wrist than break. Like putting paracord around your neck.

When I'm hiking my Garmin Foretrex is on my wrist and my Mb Microtec H3 is in my pack.
When I've found a place to camp I reverse them.

My reason isn't necessarily the same but I haven't worn a watch consistently since high school. Stopped wearing one in boot, and just don't like how they feel anymore. Even in the Marines I only wore one on Raids or operations when we had time hacks where everything had to be synchronized. And a lot of times it got strapped onto my vest on the molle webbing. Carry a cell phone now but there is a cheap timex in my BOB, and another in my glove box. In a survival situation I don't think time would be of much importance and if I had a date or meeting, well I don't think I am gonna make it.YMMV

I've got several timexes that i've found at the bottom of our local "floating" river that ahve taken a "licking" and they keep on ticking.......still my go to watches....and they were free.

I use this one when I'm afraid to scratch something.
