What watch do you wear?

What is the difference?? Between a regular display model and the negative display?
I've read reports of the negative display being harder to read. For the average person there's really no need for the negative display other than it looking cool and costing more than regular display versions of the same models.

Quite simply, there is a polarizing film over the LCD display - a neg display has the opposite side of this film facing up.

You can literally open any G-Shock up and flip the polarizing film and either create a negative OR positive display.

Here is a basic how to w pics: http://mygshock.com/2008/04/23/reverse-lcd-frogman-mod/

In the above link they could have just flipped the polarizing film over to get the neg display - they did not need to add another piece of film...

Here is another thread on the topic: http://www.watchbus.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=25891

I have a neg display G-Shock and do not find it bothersome to read but, my eyes are rather good...

I discovered the Casio Pathfinders in 2007, and have been well pleased with them ever since. I have both the PAW1500-1VCR, and the PAW1300-3V. They retail for somewhere around $300, but are always discounted and can be purchased for around $200. They have features such as altimeters, thermometers, tide and moon phase graphs, barometers, timers, atomic timekeeping, etc. They are not scientifically precise, but accurate enough for hiking, camping, and fishing.

The OP did say he wanted to keep the price under $100 :p

Take alook at Skagen watches - they are a Danish company that makes some really nice, slim watches with clean designs, and you can get one with a Titanium band for right around $100.

Check on eBay for good prices, and go to their website to see what they offer.

Citizen Eco-Drive (aka solar) Titanium.

Not a bad watch at all. I have had it now for almost 8 years with out any problems. :)

IIRC it was MSRP'd at like $400. (not a chance), I got it at a pawn shop for a lot less. ;)

Fossil Arkitekt the wife got me about 4 years ago or so. Favorite watch out of all that I've had. Dressy enough to wear anywhere, but don't mind too much if it gets dinged up.

CASIO G-SHOK - 1989ish, original battery but band was removed due to hydraulic fluid deterioration. Stays in my tool box.

Timex Expedition(1996) & Seiko Chrono (2003, My gift to self after return from Iraq) share daily wear. I really like the Expedition as it's analog w/alarm. Hard to find a new Exp. that way. unless it's ana & digi. or just digi. My Seiko is Analog w/alarm but damn it's a pain in the ass.

I want: Submariner Oyster Perpetual & a Tag Heuer, among thousands others. There was a company in Ohio making some nice looking pieces with tritium but can't find them now. I think they were around the Columbus area. Anyone know anything of help?

Casio G-Shock or Timex Ironman. I wore both throught my tours in the Marine Corps and they both held up to EVERYTHING a grunt has to go through. They are both very reasonably priced also.

For EDC, as far as watches go, I've got the Seiko Trailmaster (or something to that effect). Its got a giant bolt looking peice on one side that spins a dial inside the display that will measure anything in inches as you pass it along the object. The point is to be able to measure distance on a map, pretty spiffy. For when I go camping I keep it in my bag, to worried about it on my wrist so I keep a cheap swatch on my wrist, that way it breaks, I won't feel bad.

I wear a Wenger Swiss Millitary, it cost me about a hundren and it takes a lot of abuse with my big gorilla arms whacking it against everything constantly.

Can be had for $100 if you research and be patient.

Seiko 6309-7040 Automatic.
