What will happen to your knife collection when you die?

1. the knives to my kid. he will have no interest.

2. in the past 5 years, I have probably gifted 50 knives. went to relatives.

My cat gets everything.

I know of someone that is going through an estate battle right now.
It is not pretty. Everyone in the family is going to loose because one person is getting greedy. Only the lawyers are winning.

I wonder if there are stories of old makers reacquainted with their "children" returning home...... Afterwards.

Well, the immediate answer is that it won't matter, because I'll be gone. Longer answer is that I will probably put together a spreadsheet of whatever I own at that time many (hopefully!!) years in the future, so that my wife can know what she has on her hands and can sell them and use the money as she likes.

The remaining knives will be donated to a local Scout Troop.
Capital Idea!
Like everything else that I've accumulated, my knives don't have much cash value. I would like to see that whatever I leave behind gets put to good use.

I wanna be buried with one of my sebenzas in my hand. Or placed in the urn with me if I'm cremated.

The rest of it can go to whoever wants it.

My son is 2, so I have no idea if he likes knives. But I do know I have too many to give to him, so many that it wouldn't be special. So I've been selling stuff off here and there and putting the money into investments for him. When the time comes, he will inherit just a few knives that he has a memory of using with dad and will theoretically treasure them more. And hopefully a 7 figure trust lol.

I have a US made Kershaw Zing sitting in a safe deposit box. I have plans for it to be buried me.

I did wonder, if estates are generally selling pennies on the dollars, there must be some amazing deals out there?
I do think I better give away more knives while I am alive lol

Yep. My thought exactly.

Fortunately, I have almost every knife I really want. I certainly have more than I need.

A Griptilian and a SAK are all the folders I really need. Add in a fixed blade and I am set for just about anything.

As I get older and loose hand dexterity, my knife needs may change some but, until then I should be fine.

I have more than enough SAK Spartans for EDC, Bug Out Bag, Get Home Bag, wife’s car, Jeep Cherokee, and a SAK Cadet as a dress knife.

talkin just knife collection..... only have one boy and one wife, for that matter. if they outlive me they can sell it, keep it, give it away or whatever they want. dont care. taking nothing with me...thats silly as im dead.

This is also a grim reminder to some of us who are middle aged or older who have no heirs. Ugh.

That's me, yikes.....our numbers are increasing so much that we will soon be our own demographic.

Also with the increasing rate of singles mothers a new demographic of heirless fathers is emerging.

I think that's the problem, we are a small minority that few share our passion and those that do are already oversupplied and over-cluttered with their own gear.
There are plenty of vet organizations that could raffle them or give them to veterans who may not be able to afford an amazing knife worthy of passing down

Not tryna create more work for this site admins but would the site owner be prepared to become the legal heir to the bequeathed collections for those of us that have nobody else and leave it to the members to GAW however they see fit. Could even sell and give profits to charity.

I trust you guys to do something productive with my knife collection when I'm gone more than I trust anyone else.
