what would you call this blade?

i originally drew this design up based on a lueku style blade, but now that it's cut out and ground it gives me the impression of a mini machete more than a lueku...

what do you think, lueku or mini machete? i think i might have put too much taper in the blade for it to be a lueku...it seems like normally they are straighter.

by the way, it's 3/32 S7. 1.75" wide at the widest, 1.5" at the handle. it will go to paul bos for a heat treat to 57 RcH (maximum hardness for this steel). this steel really isn't a knife steel, and is designed to be very shock resistent, with wear resistence a low priority. despite this, i have found that it makes a good steel for large blades because it is nearly indestructible and holds a pretty good edge.

Put a couple "blood grooves" on it and call it a Backup Zombie Slayer. To be paired with a full size machete or khukri for an excellent zombie protection combo.

thanks for the input guys, i think i will have to draw up a straighter style lueku blade...

It would depend on the handle. If you put a really traditional style bone or antler Leuku handle on it the subtle difference in the blade will not matter. However if you have a totally different style of handle it would not be a leuku.

Call it what you wish, it is a great looking knife. Produce enough of them and write a book about camping a woodcraft and you can name the blade after yourself.

Have fun and stay sharp,

Great work Simon:thumbup:

I dig the shape. I know you have a ruler next to it, but I can't make out the numbers:o Whats the blade length and overall?

How about Microchete

blade length is right about 7". i thought about going a little bigger, but decided to stick to a more common lueku size.

Mecca-lecca-ho-mecca-lecca-hinnie-ho sounds about right.... :)

It looks like a good blade shape to me. I like the very end and the sharp angle to the tip.
