What would you change about the Sebenza 21?

Lets say you're in Chris Reeve's shoes, and you're creating a new version of the Sebenza 21. Is there anything you would change about it?

I would change the blade profile. I would want something in between the classic and the regular. I also don't like how the chamfer around the edge of the handles have bumps in them where they get close to the screws. I would keep the screws in the same place, but make the handle slightly larger so the screws aren't so close to the edge.

Other than that, I'd say everything else is perfect.

Your thoughts?

I'd love to see a non-LE Sebbie (Classic or 21) with bird's eye maple inlays (if it has been done, I haven't encountered it):

Other than that, a "Loyalty Reward" reward would be nice -- e.g., "Buy 10, Get One FREE!" And I don't mean 10 at once, but 10 over your lifetime either directly from CRK or from an AD. And the freebie would be Chris' choice. In the end, it would be the equivalent of a 10% discount -- a discount that loyal CRK customers earn after dropping a minimum of $3000 to $4000+. That sounds reasonable, right? And it would be sweeet (especially because I already qualify for the free one!).

I like the buy 10 and get one free idea. You would have to take a pic of all of them and send it to them as proof you didn't just buy then sell them off.

Do we get a card they can stamp like at coffee shops?

I'd produce more polished blades in a plain handle. They're out there and you can request to have one made, but they're far and few between compared to the ones with a stonewash finish.

Apart from that, there's not much I'd change. I suppose I'd like a thumbstud that allows for a better purchase with your thumb, but it's one of those "but what the hell would you change it to and keep it looking so good?" situations.

its perfect allready. if i needed to think somethin up though, it would be to make a monoframe edition sebenza one solid piece of ti with a full backspacer.

I would change it to look just like the good old regular Sebenza. :p:thumbup:

I actually like the blade shape. I dont like the blade shape of the old regular, though. I think the 21 blade looks great.

Also, the shape of the handle next to the screws dont bug me at all. I think its just fine. Great looking, even.

There is only one thing that I would change: the thumbstud. id make it maybe about 15-20% larger, and then change the shape so its not a cone, or make the cone not so pointy on the end. I think that for a "user" knife, the thumbstud should be more rebust and easier/faster to use. Everything else on the knife is perfect, IMO.

I also like how they changed the screws so both sides look similar with the holes in the center of them. And I like how they dropped the lettering on the classic that was around the blade pivot. That is one thing that I really didnt like. As soon as I saw the 21 come out, I thought it looked perfect and knew I'd eventually have to buy one. I think the 21 is the best looking sebenza CRK has produced thus far.

I think thats its ALMOST perfect as it is however, like you asked, if I was Chris Reeve and I was looking to change something I would round the (somewhat) sharp corner right above the rear standoff. Sometimes if I'm doing a lot of hard cutting that little corner digs in my hand just a tad. Other than that I'd keep it just the way it is. Oh and I'd put double thumblugs on all Sebenzas.

I would say the thumb stud, but the design of the current thumb stud is so embedded in my muscle memory it would look/feel odd with anything different..

Go back to the Regular's blade profile and re-do the thumb stud. The thumb stud seems to be the most common complaint.

I would change it a little.....to look exactly like this:D

I would prefer the current 21 handle slabs paired with an original blade profile (not as pointy as the current and less of a spine bump than the regular), and less pointy thumbstuds. Also, I like the original thumbstuds as they had more of a rounded cone than a stepped pyrimid shape.

These are such nit-picky things though. A Sebenza's still a Sebenza regardless, and they're fantastic.

+1.

I would also (toeing the blasphemy line here) love to see the Sebenza with the Umnumzaan's ceramic ball lock. :D

The 21 is actually my favorite Sebenza design. I like the handles more than the regular, and I prefer the blade profile to the classic. I'd leave it alone! :D
