I have to agree with most of this; my friend the LAPD officer (who I show all my cool autos to - and he tells me which ones are felony carries and which only misdemeanors) has only one STRONG piece of advice:
"Whenever you're stopped, always, ALWAYS tell the officer that it's a tool, not a weapon and not for self-defense."
He's never arrested anyone for carrying, but admits that other cops may, and insists that this semantic distinction will be enough to keep me out of jail most of the time (that and a polite attitude, of course).
