What would you do if you lost your knife?

I'd be pissed and disappointed too. :grumpy:
Then I's grab another knife from my rotation to carry, and replace the knife I lost if possible.

My very berry favorite is a Blind Horse Lumberjack AT in A2. BOY do I love that knife. However, as many of you know, Blind Horse doesn't exist anymore and neither of the two makers offer that model anymore. So, if I lost it...I'm thinking it would be a dropping to my knees and cursing with a certain amount of volume and creativity.

Then...I would take the opportunity to justify purchasing another fixed blade grail knife...

The excitement of a new knife must dull the pain of a lost one...right?

Not this past weekend but the one before, I was at the Bristol Renaissance Faire with my wife, a friend, and her kids. At one point I realized my SG Spider Monkey was missing. I was freaking out. I knew there was no way I'd ever find it. I didn't know if I would buy the knife again. Thankfully, when we got home it was sitting on the counter in the bathroom. To think I'd been walking around naked all day.

No matter what the knife is, losing it sucks. The easily replaced (availability wise) knives don't bother me as much as those that are hard to get and/or demand an inflated secondary market price, such as my Manix 2 CTS-XHP sprint.

In the event I owned a custom/midtech greater than $500 I would schedule it to my renter's insurance, so if it were lost or stolen I would be able to get my money back at least.

Would swear all day long, and be angry for a week, but I have a backup for it!

Favorite EDC, all around that I carry no matter what:

Its backup, sits safely on my knife box just in case...

Insurance, that's an option. Of course, a $500 or $1000 deductible is about the norm UNLESS it is specifically scheduled with a value.

I would do exactly what I did - buy another. However I found my EDC in the washing machine so now I have a spare

Wow.

Man, it's just a knife. Go bnuy another one. Liker an old man once told me, 'never cry over anything that can't cry over you back.'

Stuff is just stuff. As long as it's not a loved one, just get another one.

That is what I am talking about, scheduling it.

My thoughts exactly.
I don't think you need zip ties that big (or 3 of them) just to wave it.

Have lost 4 knives, not a clue where any of them are. Two I believe might of been stolen but not completely certain. Other two have been misplaced by me and though one of those was a throw away $5 knife, I m still hoping to find my Buck bantam was a nice cheap knife. Anyhow of the 4 only one was really worth more than $25 and that was a Case coke bottle with American flag logo made after 9-11, that's the only one that wasn't easily replaced.

But to stay on topic, I find that one of the pleasures of low cost knives is that when lost I discover new model or in most recent case a new brand to follow. So in a way, it gives you a reason to try something new. Lastly I think it's important to remember a knife is a tool and material belonging, that we shouldn't treasure or value anymore than what it takes to replace it. It's easy to forget that so many things are only of this world and we can't take it when we go. Their true value is how they shape us, from meditation like state during stone sharpening that allows us to clear our mind to memories and experiences when using such tools during life's adventures.

My Mini Griptillian 556 disappeared recently. While not my favorite knife, it was my favorite modern folder, and in fact my only modern folder.

Rather than replacing it with another mini grip, I've been looking at other knives that will fit the bill; why not try something different? BM Sequel? Mini Ritter? Spyderco Sage?

As soon as I replace it, I suspect it will turn back up...

Considering my favorite and most carried knives are my sebenza and xm-18, I'd probably lose my s**t and breakdown in tears if I lost one of them. That being said, I'd also probably also end up saving part of each paycheck for a few months just to buy another!:D

I lost a favorite early model Benchmade switchblade that was given to me by my dad when I was in highschool, though I'm certain it was found by someone else. Never replaced it, but still really regret it going missing.

The only one I'd kick and scream over would be the BM 710-1401 my boys got for me. They had it engraved with their initials by KW. Extremely thoughtful and incredibly touching gift!! And I love it......a LOT!
Walking my 100 lb 11 month old German Shepherd last night happily flicking away and he saw a cat that I didn't see. Uh oh!!
Knife went flying into the grass right by some woods! Panic!! Called my son who came to the rescue with a large Mag light.
It was lost for 5 minutes and I was sick!
Most of the others I would be pissed, but would replace them.

This whole thread just brings up a pretty damn good idea...like I would never think of not wearing my chain wallet, other than I love the look of it, I love the fact that I don't ever have to worry about losing my wallet. I just may attach a Lanyard to my Bad Monkey that attaches to one of my belt loops...so this won't happen! Haha great thread y'all!

Hey buddy what did you lose? My favorite at the moment is a tricked out XM24 worth around $2000. I do carry it and would be greatly saddened if I lost it.

But I would move on with another knife.

Great Day Mike. 2Gs? I would be saddened for you. I have lost a few in the past and usually it's a small secondary pen knife of some kind. It bothers me for a short while, but it's just the perfect reason to get a new one. :D
