I have never been in this situation before. I contacted a fellow member and decided to trade knives. I usually mail things Prioirty and usually receive them in the same manner. Approimately two weeks ago we agreed to ship the knives and trade, I did not get a response back or so I thought. He did email me back but for some reason it went to spam. Anyway he had shipped the knife and I had not shipped mine since I did not know if the deal was still on. He contacted me last sunday to let me know he had shipped the knife. I explained to him about what happened and had not shipped the knife. I want to make it clear the fellow member is or was in no way trying to cheat me, he is very upstanding and respectable. I told him that I would ship off the knife I was trading, but I decided to wait in case anything happened ( I was suspicious). I asked him for tracking which he did not have but emailed me a picture of the receipt. Last Thursday the 16th he emailed me again and I told him that I had not sent the knife yet and was waiting, he then told me that the knife had been received by a person named Henderson. I went and checked with Aaron henderson and was told he had not seen the package he sent. I emailed the member back that day and told him the story. I had to work the next day and checked again no package. I was then told that Thomas in accounting was out there getting his packages and may have picked mine up since I have the same first name. Fastfoward, I checked with Thomas late Tuesday of this week, He remembers seeing a package with my name on it but did not pick it up. Here is the quandry, I firmly believe the package got here but it came UPS, not USPS. UPS is received through the plant, USPS comes in the front office and I have never had a package lost received by the front office. The receiving area however had a computer come up missing late May of this year. I am having the video tapes checked, but I feel bad for this member. He trusted it would get here and it did but never made it too me. Does anyone have advice on how to proceed from here? Thanks.

Sounds like You will need to step up and make it right for the other member. He did what he was asked to do, it got there and it is on you know. You owe him the knife you agreed to trade. Sounds like someone where you work has sticky fingers.

Sorry about the situation, that sucks. Only one question: did you both come to an agreement about the shipping method, and did he agree to ship it by USPS?

I thought we both had decided to use USPS, He did say in the first email he went to the post office, yet he has a UPS tracking number.

Yes, that is what I was thinking about making it right. He did hold up his end of the bargin whether I get the knife or not. It is just hard to give up something for nothing. Thanks.

Have you tried to contact UPS? You should be able to get the name of the person who signed for the package, and you can also look into filing a claim since you didn't receive the goods that they delivered.

The tracking number is 1ze087040380766542. I was told it was delivered and signed for by 'henderson'. I look it up now and it says it is not a good number. Not sure I'll contact the member to verify it is correct.

UPS is not going to pay a claim, nor should they when it was delivered to the correct address and signed for by a person who works there. This is the risk you take when you send something to your place of work......it now becomes a bigger bucket than just your home.

You need to send him his knife immediately. That you have waited this long is really offensive. He held up his part of the deal. You have not. I hope you are able to find your knife! That has nothing do with the other guy now.

You might want to remind the person who signed for your package that in doing so they have taken responsibility for it. People should not sign for things if they are not willing to assume responsibility.

1ze087040380766542 is the tracking number. i went to the post office and they were closed, so i flew myself to the brown ups store because they offer usps shipping services. the tracking and payment was through ups. but they then deliver to the usps and it proceeds with them. It was "signed by Henderson" at 9:48 am at the address i was given. I stopped in the store today to get a receipt reprint and the guy who works there I'm friends with (off roaring buddies) and he told me there wasn't much he could do because it did get delivered and signed for. And even though it was insured for its value it got delivered. Part of UPS policy is i need to list contents. so i listed folding knife. On the shipping label "folding knife" was printed under the description of the item... at this point in time I'm thinking someone in receiving saw the shipping label and snagged it.

jwblack, I will be sending you the Manix 2 today. I will email you later with the shipping info. Sorry this happened and my fellow BF members are correct you upheld your end of the bargin. I will have to find other means to collect on the knife you sent. I should have done this sooner, so I apologize again. Hopefully there will be some good news when I get to work today. Thanks to all for the advice.

its all good, the only question i have though is if you had a computer walk away last year at work why wouldn't you have your personal items just shipped to your residence? wouldn't that be safer for you?

My thought on a fair resolution is different.

armyguy 41 send payment of half the value of lost knife and shipping. Both guys have some fault in the problem.

For what it's worth.

It's the right thing to do.

If it was Delivered to and Signed for by "Henderson at 9:48 am" it would seem he needs to find the package. Otherwise your company has a problem in the shipping department. Signing for it is a chain of custody- what did he do with it after signing for it?

My hours usually. I do not get home soemtimes to 7pm and if a package comes they usually place it in my front door or in front of my door. I usually have things sent via USPS so that when it comes to work, the lady who does the mail brings it to me right away. I will be heading to lunch shortly and will email you the tracking info a little later. Thank you for being patient.

jwblack911, I emailed you I somehow lost the email with your address. If you can send it to me I will ship this knife ASAP. Thanks.

Manix 2 is shipped. Please let me know when it arrives and I will update and close this thread if I find out anything about my package. Thanks.
