  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

What would you like for others to bring to the gathering?

It's got to be small Thrill. The little forge only has a two inch mouth. Anything high carbon, like coil spring etc. will work and will harden up.

I will look around to see what I can find, Im very curious to see the forging process in person.

Erik was bringing rebar for the purpose of forging. Todd, have no worries, the Grunt will be making it's way home with Murf, as well as my lovely knife Sheila (who will be staying for an extended period) I am really curious as to what you got whipped up though. Looking forward to seeing it.

Vik, I can talk to Sam and see if he will let me bring what we need for the forge. He has a school to go to that weekend but I may be able to borrow stuff. What exactly do you need so I can ask him.

Got the forge thing solved Vik. I've got a mini gas forge I can bring that runs off of the little coleman propane cylinders. I had forgot all about that thing. We can pound out some knives if we can come up with some scrap. Do I need to bring tongs, hammers, anvil etc. or do you have that covered?

2 forges are better than 1, just in case we have several people interested.
Hawk - if Sam is cool with loaning a forge & a 20 pound LP bottle, that would be awesome. (I'm sure if need be we can take up a collection to refill it) If he has a coal forge with manual blower - that's fine as well -- I'll just need to pick up some lump charcoal. If he's not cool with the idea, I truly understand and we can make do with the little one.
Trade - if you have an adapter, we can refill the 1 lb bottles off the 20 when it's not in use.
I'll bring rebar, some hammers, an anvil, & some tongs - If I can find any old hoof rasps, I'll bring them, too.
Trade - if you have some of those as well, it would be handy. not sure if we need 2 anvils though. (if you have a decent cold chisel and/or punch, that would be handy, I'm not sure where mine are -- a lot of my tools seem to have wandered out of their storage location over the past 5 years)
TB - mower blades are thin and don't give much room for hammering to shape. old leaf springs work well, though, so does 1084 scrap and "HC" marked RR spikes

Awesome Brian, that would be super helpful if you could bring that.

If anyone has a 511 Rush 72 they wouldn't mind bringing I would be very appreciative. I have been considering getting one, but would rather see one in person first.

Hey Everybody.....

If you have handy-talkies bring em......I have a few but more is better.....

Ethan

I would love to get into some forging, I have attempted before, but my stock was inferior, and I was just working from a book. I could use some instruction and pointers for sure! I'll be sure to bring a couple of bottles of propane. Have a hammer or three and some files if they'll be of use.

Also, I have a bit o' the 'ole homebrew bottled and ready to go just for the occasion.

I would like to see somebody bring me. Unfortunately I'll be on the other side of the world.

Some people it appear have some difficulty understanding Bladite. I am going to lock this up now.
